Protein-cage nanoparticles are promising multifunctional platforms for targeted delivery of imaging and therapeutic agents owing to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, and low toxicity. The major advantage of protein-cage nanoparticles is the ability to decorate their surfaces with multiple functionalities through genetic and chemical modification to achieve desired properties for therapeutic and/or diagnostic purposes. Specific peptides identified by phage display can be genetically fused

SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

Robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RARP) needs a steep Trendelenburg position and a relatively high CO2 insufflation pressure, and patients undergoing RARP are usually elderly. These factors make intraoperative ventilatory care difficult and increase the risk of perioperative pulmonary complications. The aim was to determine the efficacy of recruitment manoeuvre (RM) on perioperative pulmonary complications in elderly patients undergoing RARP. A total of 60 elderly patients sch

SJR Q2Acta Anaesthesiologica ScandinavicaOA

Background In free flap reconstruction for head and neck cancer, achieving a haemodynamic target using excessive fluid infusion is associated with decreased flap survival rates and extended hospital stays. We hypothesized that goal‐directed haemodynamic therapy would improve flap survival rates and shorten hospitalization periods. Methods Patients scheduled for free flap reconstruction were randomly assigned to a goal‐directed haemodynamic therapy group ( n = 31) or a conventional haemodynamic t

SJR Q3MedicineOA

BACKGROUND: Optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) is a well-known surrogate marker for intracranial pressure during robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomies (RALP). ONSD during RALP is known to increase due to elevated intracranial pressure as a result of the steep Trendelenburg position and carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum. We aimed to compare the effects of total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) and desflurane anesthesia (DES) on ONSD during RALP. METHODS: Patients scheduled for RALP were

SJR Q1Journal of Clinical MedicineOA

Scarless remote access endoscopic and robotic thyroidectomy has been recently performed as a safe and feasible method. However, little is known about the laryngo-pharyngeal complications after surgery and the effect of adjusting the endotracheal tube cuff pressure during surgery on laryngo-pharyngeal complications. Patients were randomized into two groups: the control group (n = 52) and adjusted group (n = 52). The initial cuff pressure was set to 25 mmHg and then monitored without adjustment (c

Superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) anastomosis is the most commonly used treatment for Moyamoya disease. During the perioperative period, however, these patients are vulnerable to ischemic injury or hyperperfusion syndrome. This study investigated the ability of combined remote ischemic pre-conditioning (RIPC) and remote ischemic post-conditioning (RIPostC) to reduce the occurrence of major neurologic complications in Moyamoya patients undergoing STA-MCA anastomosis. Abstract Regulatory T cells (T reg ) are CD4 + T cells with immune-suppressive function, which is defined by Foxp3 expression. However, the molecular determinants defining the suppressive population of T cells have yet to be discovered. Here we report that the cell surface protein Lrig1 is enriched in suppressive T cells and controls their suppressive behaviors. Within CD4 + T cells, T reg cells express the highest levels of Lrig1, and the expression level is further increasing with activation.

Application of cerebral oximetry for a parturient with Takayasu's arteritis undergoing cesarean section -a case report-
Eun Hye Lee, Eun-Su Choi, Wonsik Ahn
SJR Q1Korean journal of anesthesiologyOA

Takayasu's arteritis (TA) is a chronic inflammatory disease involving the aorta. Because TA sometimes involves cerebral arteries, anesthetic debates focus on cerebral monitoring. There is limited evidence as to which cerebral monitoring method is most adequate. Furthermore, there is insufficient evidence to determine which anesthetic technique is better for TA parturients. We experienced the case of a TA parturient who developed transient cerebral ischemia during cesarean section. The patient's

SJR Q1Korean journal of anesthesiologyOA

BIS values between 50 and 59 for interventional neuroradiology were associated with a more rapid recovery and favorable hemodynamic response, but also with more patient movement. We suggest that maintaining BIS values between 40 and 49 is preferable for the prevention of patient movement during anesthesia for interventional neuroradiology.
