연구실 소개

이기현 교수의 연구실은 천연물에서 유래한 독성 단백질과 펩타이드, 특히 꿀벌 벌침과 그 주요 성분인 멜리티닌, 그리고 벌침에 포함된 인지질분해효소(sPLA2)를 중심으로 면역조절 및 신경보호 작용을 연구하고 있습니다. 특히 만성 염증성 질환, 파킨슨병, 우울증, 피부질환 등에 대한 천연물 기반의 새로운 치료 전략을 개발하고자 하며, 기존 약물의 부작용을 줄이기 위한 보조요법으로서의 동물독 기반 의학적 응용을 탐색하고 있습니다. 연구는 실험적 세포 및 동물 모델을 기반으로 하여 임상적 응용 가능성을 높이기 위한 기초 과학적 근거를 구축하고 있습니다.
