연구실 소개

심기동 교수의 연구실은 마이크로·나노스케일 소자에서의 기계적 거동을 이해하고 제어하기 위한 고성능 재료 및 이론적 모델링을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 MEMS 센서, 유연 전자소자, 나노구조 금속막의 기계적 거친성과 피로 거동에 대한 기초 연구를 통해 스마트 소자 및 인터넷 오브 things(IoT) 응용을 위한 핵심 기술 기반을 마련하고 있습니다. 고해상도 실험과 유한요소 해석을 융합한 체계적인 분석을 통해 기존 연속체역학 이론의 한계를 초월하는 쌍대응력 이론 등의 새로운 이론적 프레임워크를 개발하고 있습니다.

In this paper, we report that silver films evaporated on poly-ethylene-terephthalate (PET) substrates coated with an acrylic primer can be stretched beyond 70% without fracture. As-deposited films show a larger failure strain than annealed coatings. These observations are rationalized in light of a ductile fracture mechanism where debonding from the substrate coevolves with strain localization.
