연구실 소개
김광원 교수의 연구실은 내분비학 및 신장 이식 분야에서 활발한 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 주로 당뇨병과 암의 연관성, 갑상선 질환의 조기 진단, 라이브 기증자 신장 이식의 결과 요인 등을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 혈액 검사 및 초음파를 활용한 질병 조기 발견과, 대사질환과 암 간의 생물학적 메커니즘 연관성에 대한 심층적 분석이 특징입니다. 연구는 임상적 실용성과 정밀의료의 접목을 목표로 하며, 환자 중심의 개인화된 진료 전략 개발에 기여하고자 합니다.

Cancer incidence appears to be increased in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). DM represents a risk factor for cancer, particularly hepatocellular, hepatobiliary, pancreas, breast, ovarian, endometrial, and gastrointestinal cancers. These results suggested that routine measurement of serum calcitonin is useful in the early detection of MTC among patients with nodular thyroid diseases. Pentagastrin stimulation test may also be a reliable way for evaluating thyroid nodular patients with mild or moderate elevation of serum calcitonin concentrations. However, FNAC was not sensitive in detecting MTC. We recommend routine measurement of serum calcitonin concentration in patients with nodular thyroid diseases.
