SJR Q1New PhytologistOA

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a network of membrane sheets and tubules connected via three-way junctions. A family of proteins, the reticulons, are responsible for shaping the tubular ER. Reticulons interact with other tubule-forming proteins (Dp1 and Yop1p) and the GTPase atlastin. The Arabidopsis homologue of Dp1/Yop1p is HVA22. We show here that a seed-specific isoform of HVA22 labels the ER in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) cells but its overexpression does not alter ER morphology. The clos

SJR Q1World Journal of Surgery

BACKGROUND: Postoperative delirium after liver transplantation is relatively common, especially due to preexisting conditions such as hepatic encephalopathy. Most studies of delirium after liver transplantation were based on ICU practices using deep hypnosedation. Therefore, risk factors and consequences of postoperative delirium after liver transplantation were evaluated in the light sedation era. METHODS: A total of 253 liver transplantation patients were evaluated for postoperative delirium.

The contribution of thrombin-induced platelet activation to thrombus growth is diminished under pathological blood shear conditions
Hannah Lee, Sharelle A. Sturgeon, Shaun P. Jackson, Justin R. Hamilton
SJR Q1Thrombosis and Haemostasis

Developing novel anti-platelet therapies is an important clinical strategy for the prevention of arterial thromboses which cause heart attacks and most strokes. Thrombin activates platelets via protease-activated receptors (PARs), and PAR antagonists are currently under investigation as antithrombotics. Yet despite these clinical advances, the importance of PARs to platelet activation during thromboses formed under pathological conditions has not been investigated. To this end, we examined the r

Adiponectin Reverses the Hypothalamic Microglial Inflammation during Short-Term Exposure to Fat-Rich Diet
Hannah Lee, Thai Hien Tu, Byong Seo Park, Sunggu Yang, Jae Geun Kim
SJR Q1International Journal of Molecular SciencesOA

Adiponectin, an adipokine derived from the adipose tissue, manifests anti-inflammatory effects in the metabolically active organs and is, therefore, beneficial in various metabolic diseases associated with inflammation. However, the role of adiponectin in alleviating the hypothalamic inflammation connected to the pathogenesis of obesity has not yet been clearly interrogated. Here, we identified that the systemic administration of adiponectin suppresses the activation of microglia and thereby rev
