연구실 소개
이학민 교수의 연구실은 신장세포암과 전립선암의 수술적 치료 및 예후에 중점을 두고 있으며, 특히 병리학적 단계 상승, 온도 이소세라피 시간, 전신 간기능 지표(De Ritis 비율) 등 수술 전 후의 생리적 요소가 임상 결과에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 분석하고 있습니다. 3D 신장 해부 모델 및 영상 진단 기법(예: DWI)을 활용한 수술 계획 및 교육 프로그램 개발에도 기여하고 있으며, 로봇 및 복강경 수술의 임상적 유용성에 대한 근거를 제시하고 있습니다. 특히 장기적 신기능 보존과 암의 조기 진단 및 예후 예측에 초점을 맞춘 정밀의료 기반의 연구를 지속하고 있습니다.

15OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the associations of preoperative De Ritis ratio (aspartate transaminase [AST]/alanine transaminase [ALT]) with postoperative clinical outcomes after surgical treatment of localized RCC. The personalized 3D renal model was revealed to significantly enhance the understanding of correct renal anatomy in patients with renal tumors in both urologist and student groups. These models can be useful for establishing the perioperative planning and also education program for medical students.
The laparoscopic and robotic approaches yielded better perioperative outcomes, such as less intraoperative bleeding, shorter hospital stays, less analgesic usage, and non-inferior oncological outcomes, compared with the open approach. Further prospective studies are needed to compare these surgical techniques.

DWI detects tumors in PZ of prostate more accurately than those in TZ. Such accuracy of DWI was shown to be more evident with higher DWI grade. Meanwhile, a negative DWI did not guarantee absence of high grade PCa.
Recently, deep learning technology has achieved various successes in medical image analysis studies including computer-aided diagnosis (CADx). However, current CADx approaches based on deep learning have a limitation in interpreting diagnostic decisions. The limited interpretability is a major challenge for practical use of current deep learning approaches. In this paper, a novel visually interpretable deep network framework is proposed to provide diagnostic decisions with visual interpretation.
Poor glycemic control was significantly associated with BCR after RP. Meanwhile, metformin use was not associated with biochemical outcome after RP. Further investigation would be needed to identify exact mechanism underlying the impact of glycemic control on PCa treatment outcome.
Diabetes mellitus is an independent predictor of cancer specific and overall survival in patients who undergo surgery for renal cell carcinoma. Also, in patients with diabetes mellitus poor glycemic control is associated with a higher risk of progression.
