연구실 소개

고희동 교수의 연구실은 가상현실 환경에서의 정확한 물리적 상호작용과 실시간 트래킹 기술을 핵심으로 삼고 있습니다. 특히 ICP 알고리즘의 누적 오차 문제를 해결하기 위해 속도를 고려한 신뢰도 높은 모델 기반 추적 기법을 개발하였으며, 하프틱 인터페이스와 결합한 고속 물리 시뮬레이션 기술도 선도하고 있습니다. 또한 가상 환경의 몰입도를 높이기 위해 상호작용 기반의 스토리텔링 기법과 공동체 기반 서비스 아키텍처를 연구하고 있습니다.

VICP: Velocity updating iterative closest point algorithm

We propose a novel method to enhance a family of ICP(iterative closest point) algorithms by updating velocity. Even though ICP algorithms play a dominant role in a model based tracking, it is difficult to avoid an accumulated tracking error during a continuous motion. Integration of Physics Based Simulation with Haptic Interfaces for VR Applications

We present a novel approach to integrate physics based simulation with haptic interfaces for virtual reality applications. Proposed approach categorizes rigid bodies into two set of the visual and haptic rendering groups. Interactive Panorama Video Viewer with Head Tracking Algorithms

This paper presents new interaction method to control panorama video using head tracking technique. The panorama video viewer includes head tracking module which controls the rotation and forward/backward of the viewpoint. We applied this interaction technique to panorama video, which has omnidirectional gaze, to maximize realistic and immersive feelings. The proposed panorama video system was applied to the baseball broadcasting to show the feasibility of the suggested interaction technique.
