15Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide, with 5%-15% of CRC patients eventually developing lung metastasis (LM). Despite doubts about the role of locoregional therapy in the management of systemic disease, many surgeons have performed pulmonary metastasectomy (PM) for CRC in properly selected patients. However, the use of pulmonary metastasectomy remains controversial due to the lack of randomized controlled studies. This article reviews the results of surgical treatm
In this paper, all poset structures that admit the MacWilliams identity are classified, and the MacWilliams identities for poset weight enumerators corresponding to such posets are derived. It is proved that being a hierarchical poset is a necessary and sufficient condition for a poset to admit the MacWilliams identity. An explicit relation is also derived between the P-weight distribution of a hierarchical poset code and the P~-weight distribution of the dual code.
The early outcomes after surgical treatment for pulmonary artery sarcoma were excellent, and the late outcomes in this series were no worse than those in the previous reports. We suggest that the use of cardiopulmonary bypass is important to obtain a complete resection and the completeness of the resection should be confirmed intraoperatively by frozen section biopsy of the resection margin.
Abstract Background Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for non-small cell lung cancer, but the decline in pulmonary function after surgery is noticeable and requires attention. This study aimed to evaluate longitudinal changes in pulmonary function and integrated patient-reported outcomes (PROs) after lung cancer surgery. Methods Data were obtained from a prospective cohort study, the Coordinate Approach to Cancer Patients’ Health for Lung Cancer. Changes in forced vital capacity (FVC) and for
BACKGROUND: Pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) is pathologically classified as non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but its clinical behavior is more aggressive than other types of NSCLC. Accordingly, the optimal treatment strategy for LCNEC, including the indication of adjuvant treatment, remains controversial. METHODS: A retrospective review of 139 patients who underwent curative-intent surgery for LCNEC was performed to investigate clinicopathologic features and survival out
The main reasons for not undergoing surgery in patients with pulmonary mucormycosis were the gravity of underlying diseases and concerns for operative risk. Although overall survival rate was poor, it was significantly higher in patients who received pulmonary resection surgery. The decision to undergo lung resection is time-sensitive and essential in improving survival rate in patients suffering from pulmonary mucormycosis, despite perioperative risks.
Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression is an important biomarker for predicting response to immunotherapy in clinical practice. Hence, identification and characterization of factors that predict high expression of PD-L1 in patients is critical. Various studies have reported the association of PD-L1 expression with driver genetic status in non-small cell cancer; however, the results have been conflicting and inconclusive. We analyzed the relationship between PD-L1 expression and clinic
