이홍균 교수 연구실은 신경계와 면역계의 상호작용을 중심으로, 병변 미세환경에서의 세포 간 신호전달 메커니즘을 단백질, 유전자, 대사 변화의 관점에서 체계적으로 규명하고 있습니다. 특히 아스트로사이트, 수초세포, 면역세포 간의 상호작용이 신경염증 및 신경퇴행성 질환에서 어떻게 기능하는지, 그리고 이를 표적으로 삼는 새로운 치료 전략을 개발하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 단일세포 분석, CRISPR 스크리닝, 마이크로드롭렛 기반 셀 코크리팅 기술을 융합한 혁신적 실험 플랫폼을 구축하여, 면역세포의 비항원 독립적 활성화나 T세포의 병원성 기억세포 형성 등 복잡한 생물학적 현상을 해석하고 있습니다.

Astrocytes are abundant glial cells in the central nervous system (CNS) that play active roles in health and disease. Recent technologies have uncovered the functional heterogeneity of astrocytes and their extensive interactions with other cell types in the CNS. In this Review, we highlight the intricate interactions between astrocytes, other CNS-resident cells, and CNS-infiltrating cells as well as their potential therapeutic value in the context of inflammation and neurodegeneration.

Recent studies have highlighted the role of NFATs in regulating the differentiation of effector CD4 T helper (Th) subsets including Th1 and Th17 cells. Because controlling the effector T cell function is important for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, regulation of NFAT functions in T cells would be an important strategy to control the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases.
