15Heart failure (HF) is an important cardiovascular disease because of its increasing prevalence, significant morbidity, high mortality, and rapidly expanding health care cost. The number of HF patients is increasing worldwide, and Korea is no exception. There have been marked advances in definition, diagnostic modalities, and treatment of HF over the past four decades. There is continuing effort to improve risk stratification of HF using biomarkers, imaging and genetic testing. Newly developed me
It is shown that for a given p (1<p<or=n), the n-cube network can tolerate up to p2/sup (n-p)/-1 processor failures and remains connected provided that at most p neighbors of any nonfaulty processor are allowed to fail. This generalizes the result for p=n-1, obtained by A.-M Esfahanian (1989). It is also shown that the n-cube network with n>or=5 remains connected provided that at most two neighbors of any processor are allowed to fail.<<ETX>>
Network survivability is a crucial requirement in high-speed optical networks. Typical approaches of providing survivability have considered the failure of a single component such as a link or a node. We motivate the need for considering double-link failures and present three loopback methods for handling such failures. In the first two methods, two edge-disjoint backup paths are computed for each link for rerouting traffic when a pair of links fails. These methods require the identification of
OBJECTIVE: We hypothesised that, in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is progressive and can be predicted by baseline CMR findings and HCM phenotype. METHODS: In this single-centre cohort study, 71 patients with HCM (59±13 years; 48 men) were prospectively enrolled with clinical, echocardiographic and CMR data. Two consecutive CMR scans were performed with a time interval of 582±174 days. The LGE extent was quantified as a pr

Heart failure (HF) is a growing health concern in aging societies worldwide. Sacubitril/valsartan is changing the real-world treatment in the whole spectrum of HF. The beginning was the PARADIGM-HF trial published in 2014, which demonstrated the beneficial effects of inhibiting natriuretic peptide breakdown in combination with hindering the renin-angiotensin system in HF patients with a reduced ejection fraction. Subsequent large-scale randomized trials have evaluated angiotensin receptor-nepril
Postoperative, but not preoperative, IST and concomitant ARR were independent predictors of less development of PVL. Special attention is required for early diagnosis BD-related AR, especially in patients not satisfying the current diagnostic criteria.
Left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (LVGLS) is versatile; however, it is difficult to obtain. We evaluated the potential of an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated electrocardiography score for LVGLS estimation (ECG-GLS score) to diagnose LV systolic dysfunction and predict prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF). A convolutional neural network-based deep-learning algorithm was trained to estimate the echocardiography-derived GLS (LVGLS). ECG-GLS score performance was evalua
AIMS: T1 mapping on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is useful for diagnosis and prognostication in patients with light-chain cardiac amyloidosis (AL-CA). We conducted this study to evaluate the performance of T1 mapping parameters, derived from artificial intelligence (AI)-automated segmentation, for detection of cardiac amyloidosis (CA) in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and their prognostic values in patients with AL-CA. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 300 consecutive
Takayasu's arteritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that mainly involves medium to large sized arteries. Although pulmonary artery involvement is reported with a prevalence of about 10% to 50%, its clinical significance is underestimated. We report here one case of Takayasu's arteritis complicated by severe pulmonary hypertension due to right main pulmonary artery total occlusion.
