현재환 교수의 연구실은 식민지 시대의 과학과 식민지 후 과학의 정치적·사회적 맥락을 분석하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 혈액형, 인구학, 유전학 등 생물학적 과학이 식민지 통치와 민족 정체성 형성에 어떻게 활용되었는지 탐구하며, 식민지 과학의 유산이 현대 과학 정책과 국가 정체성 구축에 어떻게 재편되었는지를 분석합니다. 또한 생태학적 보존 정책과 과학 외교의 정치학 등 과학과 국제정치의 만남을 다룹니다.
