15Importance: Fractional flow reserve (FFR) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is generally considered to reflect residual disease. Yet the clinical relevance of post-PCI FFR after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation remains unclear. Objective: To evaluate the clinical relevance of post-PCI FFR measurement after DES implantation. Data Sources: MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for relevant published articles from inception to June 1
Background Quantitative flow ratio ( QFR ) has a high diagnostic accuracy in assessing functional stenoses relevance, as judged by fractional flow reserve ( FFR ). However, its diagnostic performance has not been thoroughly evaluated using instantaneous wave-free ratio ( iFR ) or coronary flow reserve as the reference standard. This study sought to evaluate the diagnostic performance of QFR using other reference standards beyond FFR . Methods and Results We analyzed 182 patients (253 vessels) wi
Higher post-PCI FFR after second-generation DES implantation was associated with better clinical outcomes. Different cut-off values of post-PCI FFR need to be applied according to the target vessel. ClinicalTrials Identifier: NCT01873560.
BACKGROUND: The differential prognostic impact of β-blocker dose after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has been under debate. The current study sought to compare clinical outcome after AMI according to β-blocker dose using the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry-National Institutes of Health (KAMIR-NIH). METHODS AND RESULTS: Of the total population of 13,104 consecutive AMI patients enrolled in the KAMIR-NIH, the current study analyzed 11,909 patients. These patients were classified int
In daily clinical practice, physicians often encounter patients with angina or those with evidence of myocardial ischemia from noninvasive tests but not having obstructive coronary artery disease. This type of ischemic heart disease is referred to as ischemia with nonobstructive coronary arteries (INOCA). INOCA patients often suffer from recurrent chest pain without adequate management and are associated with poor clinical outcomes. There are several endotypes of INOCA, and each endotype should
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02193971.
When adequate LDL-C level is achieved, patients on a low-moderate-intensity statin dose have similar cardiovascular outcomes to those on high-intensity statins.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is an invasive standard method to identify ischemia-causing coronary artery disease (CAD). With the advancement of technology, FFR can be noninvasively computed from coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). Recently, a novel simpler method has been developed to calculate on-site CCTA-derived FFR (CT-FFR) with a commercially available workstation. METHODS: A total of 319 CAD patients who underwent CCTA, invasive coronary angiography
The presence of myocardial ischemia is a prerequisite for the benefit of coronary revascularization. In the cardiac catheterization laboratory, fractional flow reserve and non-hyperemic pressure ratios are used to define the ischemia-causing coronary stenosis, and several randomized studies showed the benefit of physiology-guided coronary revascularization. However, physiology-guided revascularization does not necessarily guarantee the relief of ischemia. Recent studies reported that residual is
BACKGROUND: The prognostic value of angiographic complete revascularization in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) has not been thoroughly investigated, especially for contemporary coronary stents. We compared the clinical outcomes of complete and incomplete revascularization with second-generation drug-eluting stent, according to the presence of CKD. METHODS: From the Grand Drug-Eluting Stent Registry (N=17 286) in Korea, we selected 8471 patients, who were treated with second-generation
Induction of mutations using chemical mutagens has proved to be a useful tool in crop improvement and has advantages over transgenic approaches in view of legislative restrictions and intellectual property. Among the chemical mutagens, ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) has been widely used to generate novel traits. In this study, we constructed an EMS mutant population consisting of 3945 M 2 mutant lines using a Korean landrace of Capsicum annuum ‘Yuwol-cho’. In total, 1480 M 2 mutant lines were eval
Background: The HOST-EXAM (Harmonizing Optimal Strategy for Treatment of Coronary Artery Disease-Extended Antiplatelet Monotherapy) trial showed superior efficacy and safety of clopidogrel monotherapy compared with aspirin monotherapy during the chronic maintenance period after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Objectives: The goal of this study was to investigate the cost-effectiveness of clopidogrel monotherapy compared with that of aspirin monotherapy. Methods: A Markov model was deve
