GDF15 had a positive correlation with IR independent of age and BMI, and the serum level of GDF15 was increased in the IFG and T2DM groups. GDF15 may be a novel biomarker for detecting IFG in nondiabetic patients.

OBJECTIVE: Impaired social functioning is one of the defining features of patients with schizophrenia and subjects at ultra-high risk (UHR) for psychosis. This prospective study aimed to investigate the course of social dysfunction in UHR subjects and to examine its relationship with later conversion to psychosis. The effect of pharmacotherapy on the course of social dysfunction was also examined. METHOD: A total of 57 UHR subjects and 58 healthy controls participated in this study. The Social F

SJR Q1Australian & New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry

OBJECTIVE: Obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS), which are common in psychotic-spectrum illnesses, are of clinical interest because of their association with poor prognosis or cognitive dysfunction. However, few studies on the clinical and neurocognitive implications of OCS in individuals at ultra-high risk for psychosis (UHR) have been conducted. METHOD: Sixty-five UHR subjects [24 with OCS (UHR+OCS), 41 without OCS (UHR-OCS)], and 40 healthy controls were assessed using clinical scales and neur

Our pilot study findings suggest that cCBTi is effective for dialysis patients with insomnia, and the therapeutic effects of cCBTi are related to changes in brain functional connectivity and inflammatory cytokines.

SJR Q1Biology of Sex DifferencesOA

BACKGROUND: Hair cortisol concentration (HCC) has received attention as a useful marker of stress, but evidence on associations between psychological factors and cortisol concentration is inconsistent. The purpose of this study was to investigate the sex differences in the relationship between cortisol concentration and psychological factors in healthy young adults. METHODS: A total of 205 (103 females, 102 males) healthy young adults participated. HCC and various stress-related psychological me

SJR Q1Australian & New Zealand Journal of PsychiatryOA

Objective: Defects in self-referential processing and perspective-taking are core characteristics that may underlie psychotic symptoms and impaired social cognition in schizophrenia. Here, we investigated the neural correlates of self-referential processing regardless of the perspective taken and third-person perspective-taking regardless of the target person to judge relevance in individuals at ultra-high risk for psychosis. We also explored relationships between alterations in neural activity

Fragile Self and Malevolent Others: Biased Attribution Styles in Individuals at Ultra-High Risk for Psychosis

SJR Q2Psychiatry InvestigationOA

This study supports the emergence of attribution biases in the putative 'prodromal' phase of schizophrenia. The associations of biased attribution styles with multifaceted self-related psychological constructs suggest that psychosocial interventions for biased attribution styles in UHR individuals should focus not only on reflective self but also pre-reflective self-related psychological constructs.

Increased resting-state cerebellar-cortical connectivity in breast cancer survivors with cognitive complaints after chemotherapy
Hye Yoon Park, Hyeongrae Lee, Joohyuk Sohn, Suk Kyoon An, Kee Namkoong, Eun Lee
SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Cognitive complaints after chemotherapy are common in breast cancer patients, but the neural bases for these complaints remain unclear. This pilot study explored resting-state functional connectivity (FC) as a marker of subtle cognitive changes in breast cancer patients who experience cognitive complaints. Chemotherapy-treated (n = 20, at least 6 months off therapy) and untreated (n = 17, disease-control) female breast cancer patients with cognitive complaints and healthy controls (n = 20) were

Inhibition of neointimal proliferation of rat carotid artery by sulodexide

SJR Q2Journal of Korean Medical ScienceOA

Sulodexide, a glycosaminoglycan-containing compound, is known to have an antiproliferative effect on vascular smooth-muscle cells, in vitro, as well as antithrombotic and fibrinolytic effects. But there are few reports about the effect of neointimal proliferation in vivo. In this study, we examined whether Sulodexide was effective in the inhibition of neointimal proliferation after vascular injury. Ten-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to vascular injury by endothelial denudation of th

Shame and guilt in youth at ultra-high risk for psychosis
Hye Yoon Park, Eunchong Seo, Kyungmee Park, Se Jun Koo, Eun Lee, Suk Kyoon An
SJR Q1Comprehensive PsychiatryOA

Our findings showed that four subdomains of empathy, ToM, and neurocognition were differentially associated with shame and guilt in healthy young people. Given the correlation between excessive feelings of shame and high levels of the personal distress dimension of empathy in UHR for psychosis, redressing the tendency to focus on self-oriented negative emotions upon witnessing distress of others could possibly reduce self-blame or self-stigma of help-seeking individuals.

The evidence for the impact of benzodiazepine (BZD) use on infection or clinical outcomes of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is limited. We evaluated the association of BZD use with SARS-CoV-2 infection and the clinical outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) using a nationwide COVID-19 database from South Korea. This nationwide cohort study was performed using the COVID-19 database from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service of Korea, and SARS-Co

SJR Q1European journal of psychotraumatologyOA

Background: Experiences of negative social interactions and childhood trauma (CT) can lead to aberrant hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal functions. Poor theory of mind (ToM) ability is related to increased social stress levels; however, studies on the relationship between ToM and cortisol remain scarce. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between ToM and the hair cortisol concentration (HCC) in healthy young adults considering the moderating role of CT.Method: A total of 206 hea
