SJR Q1Circulation ResearchOA

RATIONALE: The Hippo pathway governs cellular differentiation, morphogenesis, and homeostasis, but how it regulates these processes in lymphatic vessels is unknown. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to reveal the role of the final effectors of the Hippo pathway, YAP (Yes-associated protein) and TAZ (transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif), in lymphatic endothelial cell (LEC) differentiation, morphogenesis, and homeostasis. METHODS AND RESULTS: During mouse embryonic development, LEC-specific deple

Abstract Purpose: To investigate the different roles of heterogeneous natural killer (NK)-cell subpopulations in multiple myeloma and to identify NK-cell subsets that support the robust anti-myeloma activity of daratumumab via antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). Experimental Design: We performed single-cell RNA sequencing of NK cells from patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) and delineated adaptive NK cells in their bone marrow (BM). We further characterized the dis

Programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) and its ligands PD-L1/PD-L2 have been shown to mediate immune evasion in various cancers, but their prognostic implications in patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) are poorly understood. Therefore, we analyzed 76 PCNSL patients at initial diagnosis who were treated homogenously with high-dose methotrexate-based chemotherapy, and evaluated the prognostic roles of high immunohistochemical PD-1, PD-L1, and PD-L2 expression. The cut-off values

Arsenic trioxide synergistically promotes the antileukaemic activity of venetoclax by downregulating Mcl-1 in acute myeloid leukaemia cells

SJR Q1Experimental Hematology and OncologyOA

BACKGROUND: The evasion of apoptosis through dysregulated Bcl-2 family members is a hallmark of leukaemia stem cells (LSCs) in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Therefore, targeting Bcl-2 with venetoclax has been suggested as an attractive strategy for inducing apoptosis in AML LSCs. However, the selective inhibition of Bcl-2 in AML often leads to upregulation of Mcl-1, another dominant anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein conferring venetoclax resistance. METHODS: LSCs from the bone marrow (BM) of

Deferoxamine Reduces Inflammation and Osteoclastogenesis in Avulsed Teeth

SJR Q1International Journal of Molecular SciencesOA

Replacement and inflammatory resorption are serious complications associated with the delayed replantation of avulsed teeth. In this study, we aimed to assess whether deferoxamine (DFO) can suppress inflammation and osteoclastogenesis in vitro and attenuate inflammation and bone resorption in a replanted rat tooth model. Cell viability and inflammation were evaluated in RAW264.7 cells. Osteoclastogenesis was confirmed by tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase staining, reactive oxygen species (ROS)

The role of upfront autologous stem cell transplantation in high‐risk younger patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma

SJR Q1British Journal of HaematologyOA

Upfront autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) has shown favourable outcome in patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL), but the role of risk-adapted upfront ASCT consolidation has not been evaluated in PCNSL. As PCNSL patients with the International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group (IELSG) prognostic score ≥2 or those who did not achieve complete response after two courses of induction chemotherapy (non-CR1) have shown inferior outcomes, we retrospectively analysed the

Real‐world data on prognostic value of measurable residual disease assessment by fragment analysis or next‐generation sequencing in multiple myeloma

SJR Q1British Journal of HaematologyOA

Measurable residual disease (MRD) negativity is a strong prognostic indicator in multiple myeloma (MM). However, the optimal use of MRD in daily clinical practice has been hampered by the limited feasibility of MRD testing. Therefore, we examined the clinical relevance of commercially available MRD modalities based on clonality assays by fragment analysis with IdentiClone® (n = 73 patients) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) with LymphoTrack® (n = 116 patients) in newly diagnosed patients with

SJR Q2Korean Circulation JournalOA

Pacemaker lead endocarditis is treated with total removal of the infected device and proper antibiotics. The outcomes of patients undergoing percutaneous lead extraction for large vegetations (>2 cm) have not yet been shown. In this case report, we present two patients with pacemaker lead endocarditis with large vegetations of maximum diameter 2.4 cm and 3.2 cm. The first patient had multiple vegetations attached to the tricuspid and mitral valves and developed septic emboli to the brain, lung,

Clearing soluble MIC reverses the impaired function of natural killer cells from patients with multiple myeloma

SJR Q1Journal for ImmunoTherapy of CancerOA

Background Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I chain-related protein (MIC) is a stress-induced ligand released from multiple myeloma (MM) cells during progression, and soluble MIC impairs natural killer group 2D (NKG2D) activating receptor-mediated recognition and function of natural killer (NK) cells. However, whether clearing soluble MIC with a monoclonal antibody (mAb) can restore NK cell activity of MM patients remains undetermined. Methods We analyzed The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCG

A novel in-frame deletion in the factor V C1 domain associated with severe coagulation factor V deficiency in a Korean family

SJR Q3Blood Coagulation & FibrinolysisOA

Hereditary coagulation factor V deficiency is a rare bleeding disorder characterized by extremely low levels of functional and immunoreactive factor V in plasma associated with moderate-to-severe bleeding symptoms. The genetic bases of factor V deficiency have been characterized only in a limited number of cases and the majority of causative mutations are truncating mutations providing only limited information about the function of subdomains and of individual residues. Here, we present the firs

Counting self-conjugate (s,s+1,s+2)-core partitions
Hyunsoo Cho, JiSun Huh, Jaebum Sohn
arXiv (Cornell University)OA

We are concerned with counting self-conjugate $(s,s+1,s+2)$-core partitions. A Motzkin path of length $n$ is a path from $(0,0)$ to $(n,0)$ which stays above the $x$-axis and consists of the up $U=(1,1)$, down $D=(1,-1)$, and flat $F=(1,0)$ steps. We say that a Motzkin path of length $n$ is symmetric if its reflection about the line $x=n/2$ is itself. In this paper, we show that the number of self-conjugate $(s,s+1,s+2)$-cores is equal to the number of symmetric Motzkin paths of length $s$, and

Treatment of older patients with Hodgkin lymphoma
Chung Hyun Park, Hyunsoo Cho, Soo‐Jeong Kim
SJR Q2Blood ResearchOA

Older patients with classic Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) often experience poor outcomes due to age-related comorbidities and treatment-related toxicity. Comprehensive geriatric assessment and supportive care measures, including pre-phase corticosteroids, growth factor prophylaxis, and organ function monitoring, are essential for optimizing treatment tolerance in this vulnerable patient population. Recent phase III trial (S1826) demonstrated that nivolumab plus doxorubicin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine
