연구실 소개

곽효원 교수의 연구실은 천연 고분자인 시리신과 리그닌을 활용한 환경 친화적 고체 흡착제를 개발하고 있으며, 특히 수중에서 크롬(VI)과 같은 유해 오염물질을 효과적으로 제거할 수 있는 높은 흡착 능력과 재사용성이 가능한 생분해성 흡착재의 설계에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 자연스러운 단백질 상분리 메커니즘을 활용한 실크 스피닝 과정에서 시리신의 역할을 규명하여 천연 섬유의 구조 형성 원리를 밝혀내는 데에도 기여하고 있습니다. 이는 친환경 소재 개발과 생물학적 공정 설계에 응용될 수 있습니다.

In the present study, novel adsorbents having high adsorption capability and reusability were prepared using agricultural by-products: silk sericin and lignin. Silk sericin and lignin blend beads were successfully prepared using simple coagulation methods for the removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from aqueous solution.
