김재구 교수의 연구실은 생물학적 및 의학적 응용을 위한 천연물 유래 항진균·항박테리아 물질의 개발과 동시에, 고급 광학 소재 및 나노구조 제작 기술을 융합한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히, 칸디다 및 MRSA 등 다제내성 병원성 미생에 대한 천연물의 항균 작용을 규명하고, 광섬유 기반의 나노조직 구조 제작 기술을 통해 의료용 레이저 가공 및 센서 기술의 기초를 마련하고 있습니다. 이는 천연물 기반 신약 개발과 고성능 광소재 응용의 융합적 접근을 지향합니다.
