연구실 소개

정재호 교수의 연구실은 중간온도 초전도체, 페로익스와 같은 강한 전자상호작용을 보이는 물질에서 나타나는 복잡한 스핀, 궤도, 결정격자 상호작용을 중성자산란을 핵심 수단으로 삼아 연구합니다. 특히 스핀-페어러스 전이, 비공명자성 스핀 구조, 비등방성 격자 진동, 그리고 비등거리 스핀 상호작용 등에서 나타나는 새로운 양자상태의 기원을 밝히는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 이는 반도체 기반 자기이중막, 산화물 페로익스, 금속 산화물 스핀델 등 다양한 신소재의 전자적 성질을 이해하고 제어하는 데 기여합니다.

Statics and Dynamics of Incommensurate Spin Order in a Geometrically Frustrated AntiferromagnetCdCr2O4

Using elastic and inelastic neutron scattering we show that a cubic spinel, CdCr2O4, undergoes an elongation along the c axis (c > a = b) at its spin-Peierls-like phase transition at T(N) = 7.8 K. The Néel phase (T < T(N)) has an incommensurate spin structure with a characteristic wave vector Q(M) = (0, delta,1) with delta approximately 0.09 and with spins lying on the ac plane. The nature of the magnetic state of $\mathrm{Li}\mathrm{Ni}{\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ has been controversial. Inelastic pulsed neutron scattering measurements on ${\mathrm{YBa}}_{2}{\mathrm{Cu}}_{3}{\mathrm{O}}_{6.95}$ single crystals indicate that the sample has a distinct a-$b$ plane anisotropy in the oxygen vibrations. Using neutron scattering techniques, we have investigated spin wave excitations in noncollinear ferrimagnetic spinels $\mathrm{Mn}{B}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{4}$ $(B=\mathrm{Mn},\mathrm{V})$ with ${e}_{g}$ and ${t}_{2g}$ orbital degeneracies, respectively, that lead to tetragonal distortions along opposite directions. We report the antiferromagnetic (AFM) interlayer exchange coupling between Ga0.97Mn0.03As ferromagnetic semiconductor layers separated by Be-doped GaAs spacers. We report the observation of the giant magnetoresistance effect in semiconductor-based GaMnAs/GaAs:Be multilayers. Clear transitions between low-field-high-resistance and high-field-low-resistance states are observed in selected samples with Be-doped nonmagnetic spacers. These samples also show negative coercive fields in their magnetic hysteresis and antiferromagnetic (AFM) splittings in polarized neutron reflectivity. Tetragonal ferrimagnetic spinel Mn3O4 shows complex magnetic phase transitions due to competing anti ferromagnetic interactions involving Mn2+/3+ ions with difference valences.
