이재면 교수의 연구실은 면역학적 기전과 세포 신호전달을 중심으로 한 분자생물학적 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 골다골화와 암 미세환경에서의 자연살상세포 기능 저하 메커니즘, 바이러스 감염에 의한 세포 생존 조절 기전 등에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 이는 향후 암 치료 및 백신 개발에 기여할 수 있는 기초 연구를 포함합니다. 또한 신약 타겟 기반의 유전적 다형성 분석을 통해 정신질환 치료의 개인 맞춤형 접근법을 모색하고 있습니다.

Epstein-Barr virus infection in vitro immortalizes primary B cells. EBNA2 is an Epstein-Barr virus-encoded transcriptional transactivator that mimics the effects of activated Notch signaling and is essential for this proliferative response. An assay using Sindbis virus (SV) as a cell death inducer revealed that, like Notch, EBNA2 also has antiapoptotic activity.
