15absorbent surface chemicals and the addition of modifiers or nano-materials. Hence in the present review, the synthesis methods of GQDs and CQDs has been summarized and their characterization methods also been analyzed. The applications of carbon-based QDs (GQDs and CQDs) in biological and sensing areas, such as biological imaging, drug/gene delivery, antibacterial and antioxidant activity, photoluminescence sensors, electrochemiluminescence sensors and electrochemical sensors, have also been di
This review highlights the critical issues and recent advances in developing highly volumetric-efficient and high capacitance MLCCs from the viewpoint of designing dielectric materials.
Organolead halide perovskites are used for low-operating-voltage multilevel resistive switching. Ag/CH3 NH3 PbI3 /Pt cells exhibit electroforming-free resistive switching at an electric field of 3.25 × 10(3) V cm(-1) for four distinguishable ON-state resistance levels. The migration of iodine interstitials and vacancies with low activation energies is responsible for the low-electric-field resistive switching via filament formation and annihilation.
Graphene is considered as one of leading candidates for gas sensor applications in the Internet of Things owing to its unique properties such as high sensitivity to gas adsorption, transparency, and flexibility. We present self-activated operation of all graphene gas sensors with high transparency and flexibility. The all-graphene gas sensors which consist of graphene for both sensor electrodes and active sensing area exhibit highly sensitive, selective, and reversible responses to NO2 without e
Fascinating characteristics of halide perovskites (HPs), which cannot be seen in conventional semiconductors and metal oxides, have boosted the application of HPs in electronic devices beyond optoelectronics such as solar cells, photodetectors, and light-emitting diodes. Here, recent advances in HP-based memory and logic devices such as resistive-switching memories (i.e., resistive random access memory (RRAM) or memristors), transistors, and artificial synapses are reviewed, focusing on inherent
Two-variant stripe domains in BiFeO3 films on miscut (001) SrTiO3 substrates exhibit square-like, complete ferroelectric switching with low leakage current. Both the preferential distortion of BiFeO3 unit cells and the persistent step-flow growth induced by the substrate anisotropy are the origins of the formation of the two-variant stripe domains in (001) BiFeO3 films.
Palladium (Pd) has been the key element for several C–C bond-forming reactions, especially the Nobel-acclaimed Suzuki, Heck, and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions, among others. This review article describes recent efforts toward the synthetic strategies, characterization, and development of various nanostructured material supports for adorning Pd nanoparticles and their sustainable use in catalyzing at least one of the three aforementioned transformations. Recent advances are highlighted for
solution; the utility of mono- and multi-metal nanocatalysts with special emphasis on heterogeneous nanocatalysts are included. A progressive trend on the applicability of nanocatalysts is also incorporated with large scale application and their sustainable recyclization and reuse utilizing supported and magnetic nanocatalysts; representative methods for the synthesis of such reusable nanocatalysts are featured.
Abstract Organic–inorganic halide perovskite materials have attracted significant attention during the last few years because of their superior properties for electronic and optoelectronic devices, such as their long charge‐carrier diffusion lengths and high photoluminescence quantum yields of up to 100% with tunable bandgaps over the entire visible spectral range. In addition to solar cells, light‐emitting diodes represent a fascinating application for halide perovskite materials. Here, the rec
Biaxial strain is known to induce ferroelectricity in thin films of nominally nonferroelectric materials such as SrTiO3. By a direct comparison of the strained and strain-free SrTiO3 films using dielectric, ferroelectric, Raman, nonlinear optical and nanoscale piezoelectric property measurements, we conclude that all SrTiO3 films and bulk crystals are relaxor ferroelectrics, and the role of strain is to stabilize longer-range correlation of preexisting nanopolar regions, likely originating from
Abstract Neuromorphic architectures are in the spotlight as promising candidates for substituting current computing systems owing to their high operation speed, scale‐down ability, and, especially, low energy consumption. Among candidate materials, memristors have shown excellent synaptic behaviors such as spike time‐dependent plasticity and spike rate‐dependent plasticity by gradually changing their resistance state according to electrical input stimuli. Memristor can work as a single synapse w
Abstract CsPbX 3 (X = halide, Cl, Br, or I) all‐inorganic halide perovskites (IHPs) are regarded as promising functional materials because of their tunable optoelectronic characteristics and superior stability to organic–inorganic hybrid halide perovskites. Herein, nonvolatile resistive switching (RS) memory devices based on all‐inorganic CsPbI 3 perovskite are reported. An air‐stable CsPbI 3 perovskite film with a thickness of only 200 nm is successfully synthesized on a platinum‐coated silicon
Direct measurement of the remanent polarization of high quality (001)-oriented epitaxial BiFeO3 thin films shows a strong strain dependence, even larger than conventional (001)-oriented PbTiO3 films. Thermodynamic analysis reveals that a strain-induced polarization rotation mechanism is responsible for the large change in the out-of-plane polarization of (001) BiFeO3 with biaxial strain while the spontaneous polarization itself remains almost constant.
, simplistic synthesis, acceptable environmental stability, beneficial optical, electronic, and mechanical features, researchers have largely considered them for diverse applications. Therefore, their capability of catalyzing several electrode reactions has been introduced as one of their significant features. A thin layer of the conducting polymer deposited on the substrate electrode surface can augment the electrode process kinetics of several solution species. Such electrocatalytic procedures
