15We have developed previously a class of synthetic hybrid histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors, which were built from hydroxamic acid of trichostatin A and pyridyl ring of MS-275. In this study we evaluated the antitumor effects of these novel hybrid synthetic HDAC inhibitors, SK-7041 and SK-7068, on human cancer cells. Both SK-7041 and SK-7068 effectively inhibited cellular HDAC activity at nanomolar concentrations and induced the time-dependent hyperacetylation of histones H3 and H4. These HDA
BACKGROUND: This clinical case presented a novel method of segmental mandible reconstruction using 3D-printed titanium implant with pre-mounted dental implants that was planned to rehabilitate occlusion. CASE PRESENTATION: A 53-year-old male who suffered osteoradionecrosis due to the radiation after squamous cell carcinoma resection. The 3D-printed titanium implant with pre-mounted dental implant fixtures was simulated and fabricated with selective laser melting method. The implant was successfu
BACKGROUND: Mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned medium (MSC-CM) has emerged as a promising cell-free tool for restoring degenerative diseases and treating traumatic injuries. The present study describes the effect of selenium as a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger and its additive effect with basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on in vitro expansion of amniotic fluid (AF)-MSCs and the paracrine actions of AF-MSC-CM as well as the associated cellular and molecular mechanisms. METHOD
Alopecia, one of the most common chronic diseases, can seriously affect a patient's psychosocial life. Dermal papilla (DP) cells serve as essential signaling centers in the regulation of hair growth and regeneration and are associated with crosstalk between autocrine/paracrine factors and the surrounding environment. We previously demonstrated that amniotic fluid-derived mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium (AF-MSC-CM) accelerates hair regeneration and growth. The present study describes the
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of four patients receiving stock Biomet TMJ prosthesis for reconstruction of the TMJs. METHODS: TMJ reconstruction with stock Biomet TMJ prosthesis was performed in four patients who had joint damages by trauma, tumor, resorption, and ankylosis, which represent the indications of alloplastic prosthesis. RESULTS: Loss of condyle from trauma and resorption of joint are good indications for prosthesis, but the patients should be info
Background: A causal relationship of bisphosphonate (BP) exposure with osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) has been reported; however, a definite dose-dependent risk remains to be elucidated beyond current vague recommendations of 4-year oral BP for ONJ risk increase. Objective: To identify the effect of bisphosphonate cumulative dose on ONJ development in women with osteoporosis. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was designed using the National Health Insurance Service-National Health Screening
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of porous polyethylene in paranasal augmentation on the overlying soft tissue. Thirty-three patients underwent paranasal augmentation using 3-mm-thick porous polyethylene and mandibular setback, and 35 patients underwent mandibular setback only. Lateral cephalograms were taken before and 6 months after the surgery to compare the soft-tissue changes in the paranasal area. Complications and patient satisfaction following the surgery were also analy
