15Hippotherapy positively affects gross motor function and balance in children with CP of various functional levels.
Visual feedback by ultrasonography could improve the accuracy of selective neuromuscular blocking of the gastrocnemius.
Given the high rate of aspiration in the infants who underwent open heart procedures, monitoring and prompt recognition of the signs and the risk factors of dysphagia may substantially improve infant care with oral feeding and reduce the duration of hospital stays.
Botulinum toxin A is considered an important tool to control spasticity in children with cerebral palsy. Several factors are known to affect the efficacy of botulinum toxin, such as dosage, appropriate muscle selection and application, age, and accompanying therapy. A multicenter, double-blind, randomized, prospective phase III clinical trial of botulinum toxin A for the treatment of dynamic equinus in 144 children with cerebral palsy was performed to compare the efficacies of letibotulinumtoxin
Selective blocking of the anterior branch of the obturator nerve with 5% aqueous phenol can safely and effectively control adductor spasticity in children with cerebral palsy.
The objective of this clinical trial was to compare the efficacy and safety of letibotulinum toxin A and onabotulinum toxin A for improving dynamic equinus foot deformity in children with cerebral palsy (CP). In total, 144 children with spastic CP who had dynamic equinus foot deformity were assigned randomly to the Botulax group (injection of letibotulinum toxin A) or the Botox group (injection of onabotulinum toxin A). The Physician's Rating Scale (PRS), ankle plantar flexor spasticity using th
<b><i>Objective:</i></b> Children with cerebral palsy (CP) have an impaired cardiac autonomic function. Attenuated heart rate recovery (HRR), which is a valuable prognostic parameter for autonomic nervous system, is known to be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality. However, only few studies have observed the effects of exercise on the cardiac autonomic function in children with CP. The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the effects of equine-
Identification of these motor points facilitates the efficacy and efficiency of a neural blockade and decreases undesirable complications.
These findings highlight the importance of increasing %MVPA in children with CP, especially GMFCS levels II and III.
Maintaining physical activity is important for children with cerebral palsy (CP). This study examined whether age predicted habitual physical activity (HPA) or cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in school-aged children with CP and clarified the relationship between HPA and CRF. We utilized cross-sectional data from 39 children with CP (18 girls and 21 boys; mean age 7.44 years; mean body weight 24.76 kg; mean body mass index 15.97 kg/m2; hemiplegic or diplegic CP). The participants wore an accelero
BACKGROUND: Participation in physical activities is positively associated with better quality of life in children with cerebral palsy (CP). The objective of this study was to elucidate the relationship between the intensity of habitual physical activity (HPA) measured with an accelerometer and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in school-age children with CP. METHOD: A secondary analysis of the cross-sectional data of 46 ambulatory children with CP was conducted. The participants wore an acc
<b>Abstract</b> <b><i>Objectives:</i></b> To determine the effects of an equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) program on cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in children with cerebral palsy (CP). <b><i>Design:</i></b> An evaluator-blinded, parallel, two-arm, randomized controlled clinical trial with 1:1 randomization. <b><i>Settings/Location:</i></b> A tertiary university hospital and a local arena. <b><i>Subjects:</i></b> Forty-six children with CP (24 boys and 22 girls) classified as Gro
Aims To determine the potential of low-end high-intensity home-based hand-arm bimanual intensive therapy (H-HABIT) in mitigating post-modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) regression in children with unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP).Methods Twenty-two children (aged 4–12 years) with UCP were assigned to either the experimental (n = 12) or control group (n = 10). Both groups completed 30 h of mCIMT for three weeks, followed by 30 h of H-HABIT for five weeks in the experimental group
