박정재 교수의 연구실은 풍부한 고대 기록을 기반으로 한 기후 변화의 장기적 패턴과 급격한 기후 전환 현상을 연구합니다. 특히 동아시아 해안지역의 고해상도 다중지표 기록을 통해 홀로세 기간 동안의 기후 최적기와 급격한 건조화, 8.2ka 냉각 사건 등 주요 기후 이벤트를 규명하고자 하며, 기후 모델과의 비교를 통해 기후 변화 메커니즘을 해석합니다. 최근에는 기후 변화가 수문학적 조건과 탄소 순환에 미치는 영향을 다각도로 분석하고 있습니다.
