정지욱 교수의 연구실은 코로나19 바이러스의 신경학적 영향과 병변 기전을 밝히는 데 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 마이크로그리아 매개 신경질환과 바이러스의 뇌 및 눈으로의 침투 메커니즘을 체계적으로 연구하고 있습니다. 또한, SARS-CoV-2의 변이체 분석과 항바이러스 치료제 개발을 위한 약물 재창출 전략, 식물 기반 백신 플랫폼을 활용한 항원 단백질 발현 등 다양한 바이오의학적 접근을 통해 코로나19 극복을 위한 종합적 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히, 신경조직과 눈을 대상으로 한 바이러스의 신경치유성 침투 메커니즘은 세계적으로 주목받는 연구 분야입니다.
