최정란 교수의 연구실은 대사질환과 심혈관 질환의 조기 진단 및 유전적 기반의 개인 맞춤형 치료 전략 개발을 핵심으로 삼고 있습니다. 특히 체형 지표인 허리둘레 대 키 비율(WHtR), 성장인자 FGF21, 지방세포 호르몬 어드ิ포넥틴 등 대사 상태와 관련된 생체지표와 유전자 변이(ABCB1, SLCO1B3, HTR2A 등)의 상관관계를 종합적으로 분석하고 있습니다. 암, 고혈압, 대사증후군 등 만성질환의 유전적 소인과 생체지표 간의 관계를 규명하여, 예방 및 조기 간병학적 접근을 위한 기초 데이터를 제공하고 있습니다.
