15Despite the unique advantages of the metal‐organic framework of Prussian blue analogues (PBAs), including a favorable crystallographic structure and facile diffusion kinetics, the capacity of PBAs delivered in aqueous systems has been limited to ≈60 mA h g −1 because only single species of transition metal ions incorporated into the PBAs are electrochemically activated. Herein, vanadium hexacyanoferrate (V/Fe PBA) is proposed as a breakthrough to this limitation, and its electrochemical performa
Abstract Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) is beneficial for improving the efficiency of organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) by providing pathways to convert non‐emissive triplet excitons into singlet excitons. To ensure TADF is efficient, it is critical to enhance the reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) rate. To this end, most approaches propose thus far have focused on reducing the energy difference between S 1 and T 1 states. The present study explores how incorporating the in
A new alkoxyphenyl-substituted poly(fluorene) was synthesized to suppress the emission of long-wavelength radiation. The polymer emitted pure blue light, the characteristics of which did not change upon thermal annealing or normal operation of the EL device.
Abstract New Zn(II)‐chelated complexes based on benzothiazole derivatives, including substituted functional groups such as methyl ( MeZn ), methoxy ( MeOZn ), or fluorenyl unit ( FuZn ), are investigated to produce white‐light emission. 2‐(2‐Hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole derivatives in toluene and DMSO exhibit excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), leading to a large Stokes shift of the fluorescence emission. However, in methanol they exhibit no ESIPT due to the intermolecular hydro
Total synthesis of (+)-isatisine A is described based on the application of a silyl-directed Mukaiyama-type [3 + 2]-annulation for the preparation of a fully substituted furan core. The indole branch forming the quaternary carbon center at C2 was constructed by addition to an intermediate N-acyliminium ion derived from aminal 4. In addition, the fused tetracyclic framework including furan core was built up using modified Buchwald amidation conditions.
Obesity develops in response to an imbalance of energy homeostasis and whole-body metabolism. Muscle plays a central role in the control of energy homeostasis through consumption of energy and signaling to adipose tissue. We reported previously that MED13, a subunit of the Mediator complex, acts in the heart to control obesity in mice. To further explore the generality and mechanistic basis of this observation, we investigated the potential influence of MED13 expression in heart and muscle on th
Energy-efficient solution-processed organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are highly sought after in the low-cost printing industry as well as for the manufacture of flexible and other next-generation devices. The fabrication of such electronic devices requires high-functioning insulating materials that are chemically and mechanically robust to avoid lowering insulating properties during the device fabrication process or utilization of devices. In this study, we report a facile, fluorinated,
The dissimilatory metal-reducing bacterium, Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 produced γ-MnS (rambergite) nanoparticles during the concurrent reduction of MnO₂ and thiosulfate coupled to H₂ oxidation. To investigate effect of direct microbial reduction of MnO₂ on MnS formation, two MR-1 mutants defective in outer membrane c-type cytochromes (ΔmtrC/ΔomcA and ΔmtrC/ΔomcA/ΔmtrF) were also used and it was determined that direct reduction of MnO₂ was dominant relative to chemical reduction by biogenic sulfi
Abstract Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is extensively used as a material in various high‐end applications with superior mechanical properties. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reinforced UHMWPE (CNT/UHMWPE) nanocomposite is a promising material that can compensate for the weak durability of UHMWPE. In this study, multiwalled carbon nanotubes were oxidized and silanized using acid mixture and 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane, respectively, to improve the interfacial strength between CNTs a
