15Assessment of RH-PAT could be a less operator-dependent and noninvasive method of evaluating vascular endothelial function in patients with stable angina.
We conclude that turbinate size does not affect the characterization, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation potential of hTMSCs in vitro test, and therefore should not affect the clinical decision of whether to use autologous or allogenic hTMSCs. However, more experiments are required to definitively state the relationship of hTMSCs with turbinate size or the process NSD in humans.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Vascular perturbation induced by advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) leads to progression of atherosclerosis, plaque instability, and vascular inflammation, which results in a higher risk of neointimal proliferation. Here we investigated the inhibitory effect of alagebrium chloride (ALT-711), a breaker of AGE-based cross links, on neointimal proliferation in a carotid artery balloon injury model in diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin (STZ). MATERIALS AND METHODS
Increasing use of nanomaterials for consumer products has induced growing concerns on their adverse effects on human health and the environment. To assess the environmental and human health risks of these nanoproducts, it is essential to identify physicochemical forms and quantify the amount of nanomaterials released from nanoproducts upon exposure to various environments. In this study, we have investigated the release assessment of nano-Ag textile products in terms of the total Ag content, and
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Surveillance of individuals with colon polyps is important for the prevention of colon cancer, and its interval is based on the clinical status. Our aims were to determine the recurrence rate of advanced polyp after polypectomy and estimate the adequate interval of surveillance colonoscopy as well as the risk factors of recurrence in Korea. METHODS: Ninety-seven patients who underwent follow-up colonoscopy after initial colonoscopic polypectomy were retrospectively studied. All
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Recently, acute toxic liver injury has been reported to be the most common cause of acute hepatitis. The frequency and clinical manifestations of acute toxic liver injury was evaluated. METHODS: The medical records of 68 patients demonstrating clinically significant acute toxic liver injury were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with mild biochemical abnormalities were excluded. RESULTS: The annual percentage of toxic liver injury ranged from 50% to 90% among acute hepatitis gr
<TEX>$Li^+$</TEX> and <TEX>$H^+$</TEX> co-exchanged LSXs (Li-H-LSX) with various ratios of <TEX>$Li^+$</TEX> and <TEX>$H^+$</TEX> were prepared, and those adsorption characteristics of nitrogen and oxygen were compared with Li-Na-LSX and Li-Ca-LSX. Li-H-LSX showed higher nitrogen capacity and selectivity than that of Li-Na-LSX in the wide range of Li-exchanged ratio. The nitrogen capacity of Li-Ca-LSX was slightly higher than that of fully Li- or Ca-exchanged LSX (Li- LSX or Ca-LSX). However, Li
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Some minimal changes (MCs) are believed to have a certain relationship with gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). Nonetheless, the individual meaning of MC is still unclear. Our aim was to compare the overall and individual prevalence of MC between patients with non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) and healthy controls (HC). METHODS: Twelve endoscopic findings in the esophagogastric junction were prospectively compared between NERD (n = 64) and control (n = 104). RESULTS: Overall frequen
Background: Several studies have shown the cost-effectiveness of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), compared with warfarin, to prevent atrial fibrillation (AF) related complications. However, few have reported cost-effectiveness of DOACs in AF patients with intermediate stroke risk. Thus, we investigated the cost-effectiveness of DOACs vs. warfarin in non-valvular AF patients with intermediate stroke risk using national representative data. Methods: -VASc score: 1 for men and 2 for women) using
