SJR Q2Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data

The adsorption equilibria of CO 2 on zeolite 13X and zeolite X/activated carbon composite (Zeocarbon) were measured by a static volumetric method. The equilibrium experiments were conducted at (273.15, 293.15, 313.15, 333.15, and 353.15) K and at pressures up to 102.0 kPa for zeolite 13X and 99.7 kPa for Zeocarbon. The experimental data obtained were correlated by the Toth, UNILAN, and Sips models, which are generally used for microporous adsorbents such as zeolites and activated carbon. The iso

Soft, skin-integrated electronic sensors can provide continuous measurements of diverse physiological parameters, with broad relevance to the future of human health care. Motion artifacts can, however, corrupt the recorded signals, particularly those associated with mechanical signatures of cardiopulmonary processes. Design strategies introduced here address this limitation through differential operation of a matched, time-synchronized pair of high-bandwidth accelerometers located on parts of th

Capabilities in continuous monitoring of key physiological parameters of disease have never been more important than in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Soft, skin-mounted electronics that incorporate high-bandwidth, miniaturized motion sensors enable digital, wireless measurements of mechanoacoustic (MA) signatures of both core vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature) and underexplored biomarkers (coughing count) with high fidelity and immunity to ambient noises.

Low modulus materials that can shape-morph into different three-dimensional (3D) configurations in response to external stimuli have wide-ranging applications in flexible/stretchable electronics, surgical instruments, soft machines and soft robotics. This paper reports a shape-programmable system that exploits liquid metal microfluidic networks embedded in an elastomer matrix, with electromagnetic forms of actuation, to achieve a unique set of properties. Specifically, this materials structure i

Recently reported winged microelectronic systems offer passive flight mechanisms as a dispersal strategy for purposes in environmental monitoring, population surveillance, pathogen tracking, and other applications. Initial studies indicate potential for technologies of this type, but advances in structural and responsive materials and in aerodynamically optimized geometries are necessary to improve the functionality and expand the modes of operation. Here, we introduce environmentally degradable

Contamination Particle Behavior of Aerosol Deposited Y2O3 and YF3 Coatings under NF3 Plasma

SJR Q2CoatingsOA

The internal coatings of chambers exposed to plasma over a long period of time are subject to chemical and physical damage. Contamination particles that are produced by plasma damage to coatings are a major contribution to poor process reliability. In this study, we investigated the behavior of contamination particles produced from plasma damage to Y2O3 and YF3 protective coatings, which were applied by an aerosol deposition method. The coating materials were located at the powered electrode, th

Three-dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry for Turbulence Applications: Case of a Jet Flow

SJR Q2Journal of Visualized ExperimentsOA

3D-PTV is a quantitative flow measurement technique that aims to track the Lagrangian paths of a set of particles in three dimensions using stereoscopic recording of image sequences. The basic components, features, constraints and optimization tips of a 3D-PTV topology consisting of a high-speed camera with a four-view splitter are described and discussed in this article. The technique is applied to the intermediate flow field (5 <x/d <25) of a circular jet at Re ≈ 7,000. Lagrangian flow feature

Recent advances in passive flying systems inspired by wind-dispersed seeds contribute to increasing interest in their use for remote sensing applications across large spatial domains in the Lagrangian frame of reference. These concepts create possibilities for developing and studying structures with performance characteristics and operating mechanisms that lie beyond those found in nature. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid flier system, fabricated through a process of controlled buckling, to yield u

Free fall of homogeneous and heterogeneous cones
Jin‐Tae Kim, Yaqing Jin, Shikun Shen, Ankan Dash, Leonardo P. Chamorro
SJR Q1Physical Review Fluids

The late stage of the freefall of homogeneous and heterogeneous cones and the induced flow are studied using three-dimensional particle tracking velocimetry and three-dimensional particle image velocimetry. Results showed four distinct patterns modulated by the degree of heterogeneity and specific gravity. They included straight fall, sinusoidal-like trajectories, inclined translations with large rotations, and tumbling followed by an irregular motion.
