박종은 교수의 연구실은 단일세포 유전체학과 다중오미크스 기반의 생물정보학을 바탕으로 인간 발달 및 면역 시스템의 체계적 해부를 목표로 합니다. 특히 타액선, 흉선, 종양 미세환경 등 다양한 생물학적 시스템에서 세포 유형의 정의와 발달 경로를 고해상도로 규명하며, 대량의 단일세포 RNA 시퀀싱 데이터를 효과적으로 통합·분석하는 알고리즘 개발에도 기여하고 있습니다. 이는 질병 기전 규명과 맞춤형 치료 전략 개발에 기여할 잠재력을 지닙니다.

Thymus development, cell by cell The human thymus is the organ responsible for the maturation of many types of T cells, which are immune cells that protect us from infection. However, it is not well known how these cells develop with a full immune complement that contains the necessary variation to protect us from a variety of pathogens. By performing single-cell RNA sequencing on more than 250,000 cells, Park et al. examined the changes that occur in the thymus over the course of a human life.

Molecular Characterization of Novel Family IV and VIII Esterases from a Compost Metagenomic Library

Two novel esterase genes, est8L and est13L, were isolated and identified from a compost metagenomic library. The encoded Est8L and Est13L had molecular masses of 33,181 and 44,913 Da consisting of 314 and 411 amino acids, respectively, without signal peptides.
