15Oral TNA may improve clinical efficacy in light- or laser-based melasma treatment especially during the period of relative high sun exposure without serious adverse effects.
BACKGROUND: Incobotulinum is a newly developed botulinum toxin A in which the complexing proteins had been removed. OBJECTIVE: The aim was to compare the efficacy and safety of incobotulinum with onabotulinum in treating periocular rhytides and masseteric hypertrophy. METHODS: A randomized, double-blind, split-face study was planned. Fifty-six patients were treated for periocular rhytides and the other 56 patients were treated for masseteric hypertrophy. Onabotulinum was injected on one side of
The morphology of gold nanoparticles was controlled with hydrogentetrachloroaurate (HAuCl 4 ) and polyvinylpyrrolidon (PVP) through a polyol process using ethyleneglycol as solvent and reducing agent. The polyol process gave various particle morphologies: trihedron, tetrahedron, hexahedron, and sphere in the size range of 100−1000 nm. The polyhedral nanoplate fraction (PNF) was increased by injection of HAuCl 4 and PVP to preheated ethyleneglycol. The synthesis method, so-called rapid heating pr
Perioperative blood transfusions are common in total hip arthroplasty because of preoperative anemia and perioperative blood loss. Perioperative anemia and the need for allogeneic blood transfusion are related with increased morbidity. To reduce perioperative allogeneic blood transfusion, keeping the preoperative hemoglobin level above 12.0 g/dL is important in orthopedic patients. By using the anti-fibrinolytic agent or perioperative cell salvage, reduce intraoperative blood loss is very import
An IPL source removing 45 nm of the emitted spectra and applying a longer pulse width was found to provide a safer and more effective means of photo-epilation in Asian patients.
BACKGROUND: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with intense pulsed light (IPL) was proven effective for photorejuvenation. Recently, a new formulation of 0.5% 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) liposomal spray has been available. We designed a randomized split face study to evaluate usefulness and safety of IPL-PDT using a liposomal spray for periorbital wrinkles in Asians. METHODS: Patients received three treatments every 3 weeks. The half of the face was treated with IPL-PDT and the other half with long puls
Abstract Self‐powered electrical bandages (SEBs), integrated with wearable energy harvesters, can provide an effective and autonomous electrical stimulation (ES) solution for rapid and scarless wound healing. A continuously operating, wireless, and applicable‐to‐comprehensive‐wound ES device is essential for the quick restoration of wounds and convenience. This work illustrates a SEB powered by body‐coupled energy harvesting. The SEB continuously treats the wound with 60‐Hz sinusoidal electrical
<b>Background:</b> It is anticipated that the combined treatments of ablative laser and human stem cell-conditioned media produce the synergistic effects.<b>Objectives:</b> To investigated the effects of human stem cell-conditioned media (HSCM) as a post-procedural agent after fractional CO2 laser procedure in patients with atrophic acne scars and skin pores. <b>Method:</b> Both cheeks of 15 subjects were treated with a fractional CO2 laser. HSCM was randomly applied to one
BACKGROUND: Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) has been shown to induce cutaneous biological changes and phototoxic reactions. OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to evaluate the usefulness of artificial skin (AS) composed of keratinocytes and melanocytes as an in vitro phototoxicity model for topical agents. MATERIALS AND METHODS: AS was manufactured with three-dimensionally cultured keratinocytes and melanocytes on a de-epidermized dermis (DED). The photobiological responses in AS with and
Combination treatment may provide more rapid clinical resolution in mixed type melasma with possible long term clinical benefits.
LPNY may be considered as a safe treatment option for periorbital wrinkles in Asian patients. However, three treatment sessions are not enough for maintaining optimal clinical outcome.
