김종민 교수의 연구실은 환경 공학, 생물학적 처리 기술, 신소재 개발 및 인지과학 분야에서 다학제적 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 쓰레기 처리에서의 고형물 및 질소 제거 효율을 높이기 위한 혼합 생물처리 공정과, 그래핀 기반 투명 전도 전극을 활용한 태양전지 성능 향상 기술에 주력하고 있으며, 동시에 학습자의 성격 차이가 외국어 학습에 미치는 영향과 기억력 향상 기전에 대한 생물의학적 연구도 진행 중입니다. 이는 환경 기술과 생명과학, 인지과학의 융합을 통해 실생활 문제 해결에 기여하고자 하는 연구 철학을 반영합니다.

15A combined anaerobic/aerobic sludge digestion system was studied to determine the effect of aerobic solids retention time (SRT) on its solids and nitrogen removal efficiencies. After the anaerobic digester reached steady state, effluent from the anaerobic digester was fed to aerobic digesters that were operated at 2- to 5-day SRTs.
