15PURPOSE: We investigated the capacity of F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) to differentially diagnose immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) in clinically suspected patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Subjects were 94 clinically suspected patients who had tissue IgG4 staining (n = 85) or serum IgG4 greater than 135 mg/dL (n = 9) and underwent FDG PET/CT within 40 days. Clinical, serologic, pathological, and PET/CT findings were analyzed.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by severe brain damage and dementia. There are currently few therapeutics to treat this disease, and they can only temporarily alleviate some of the symptoms. The pathogenesis of AD is mainly preceded by accumulation of abnormal amyloid beta (Aβ) aggregates, which are toxic to neurons. Therefore, modulation of the formation of these abnormal aggregates is strongly suggested as the most effective approach to treat AD. In partic
Human dental stem cells including DPSCs, PDLSCs, and SCAP may have neurogenic differentiation capability in vitro. The presented data support the use of human dental stem cells as a possible alternative source of stem cells for therapeutic utility in the treatment of neurological diseases.
Background: Imaging tumor FDG avidity could complement prognostic implication in thymic epithelial tumors. We thus investigated the prognostic value of volume-based 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT parameters in thymic epithelial tumors with other clinical prognostic factors. Methods: This is a retrospective study that included 83 patients who were diagnosed with thymic epithelial tumors and underwent pretreatment 18F-FDG PET/CT. PET parameters, including ma
We aimed to evaluate the accuracy of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) with a low-radiation protocol and iterative model reconstruction (IMR), in comparison with invasive coronary angiography (ICA). Sixty-one patients (45 males; mean age, 61.9 ± 9.2 years) with suspected coronary artery disease who underwent CCTA and ICA were retrospectively enrolled. CCTA was performed with low tube voltage (80 or 100 kVp), low tube current (100-200 mAs), prospective ECG triggering, and IMR using
Significant changes in whole-body tumor burden can be measured on (18)F-fluorocholine PET/CT over the course of contemporary treatments for CRPC. In this study, these changes were found to be predictive of PSA progression as a potential surrogate marker of treatment outcome. Because (18)F-fluorocholine PET/CT can also be used for localizing resistant tumors, this modality can potentially complement other measures of response in the precision management of advanced prostate cancer.
Abstract In this prospective, multi-reader, multi-vendor study, we evaluated the performance of a commercially available deep neural network (DNN)–based MR image reconstruction in enabling accelerated 2D fast spin-echo (FSE) knee imaging. Forty-five subjects were prospectively enrolled and randomly divided into three 3T MRIs. Conventional 2D FSE and accelerated 2D FSE sequences were acquired for each subject, and the accelerated FSE images were reconstructed and enhanced with DNN–based reconstru
Nuclear medicine has emerged as a critical modality in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of urological malignancies, particularly prostate cancer. Advances in single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography/CT (PET/CT) have enhanced tumor assessment across staging, treatment response, and recurrence settings. Molecular imaging, which offers insights beyond traditional anatomical imaging, is increasingly integral in specific clinical sc
