연구실 소개

우주선 교수의 연구실은 고생대의 미세조직적 퇴적물과 극한 환경에서의 생물학적 및 비생물학적 퇴적 과정을 중심으로, 특히 박테리아 기반의 탄산염 석출과 고대 생물군집의 퇴적 기록을 해석하는 데 전문성을 기르고 있습니다. 주로 중국과 남극 등 세계 곳곳의 고대 퇴적지층을 현장 조사와 함께 분석하여, 미세한 구조적 변화가 기후, 해양 조건, 생명체의 존재 여부 등에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 있습니다. 또한 화성의 퇴적분지와 같은 외행성 천체의 퇴적 기록을 비교 연구함으로써, 지구 외 천체의 고환경 복원과 생명의 흔적 탐색에 기여하고 있습니다.
