This paper investigates returns to women’s education by applying an optimal IV selection approach, post-Lasso IV estimation, which improves the first-stage predictive relationship between an endogenous regressor and instruments. Using the 2010 American Community Survey, we find that an extra year of education increases married women’s own income by $4,480 and spouse income by $8,822. This paper studies how the strength of social ties is affected by the geographical location of other individuals and their social capital. We characterize the equilibrium in terms of both social interactions and social capital. We show that lower travel costs increase not only the interaction frequency but also the social capital for all agents. 본 연구는 공공기관 지방 이전과 혁신도시 조성이 지역의 경제성장 및 산업구조 변화에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 2007년부터 2019년까지 13년의 전국 시･군･구 데이터를 활용하여 혁신도시 조성 지역과 나머지 지역 간의 DID 분석을 시행하였다. 분석 결과 지역내총생산(GRDP), 노동자 수, 창업기업 수 측면에서 지역 경제성장에는 유의미한 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다, 하지만 광업･제조업 노동생산성과 집적경제의 외부성을 유발하는 산업의 특화, 다양성, 경쟁도 측면의 지역 산업구조 변화에는 유의미한 효과가 없었던 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 공공기관 이전과 혁신도시 조성 정책이 공공기관 이전과 외형적 성장이라는 정책 산출 측면의 주요 단계를 완료 하였지만, 혁신도시 조성이 목표로 한 지역의 성장 거점화에는 아직 도달하지 못한 것을 시사한다.

This paper examines the causal impacts of rising housing costs on individual health and satisfaction with life circumstances, using a fixed-effects instrumental variable approach and individual-level panel data from Australia. 지능형 운전자 보조 시스템(Advanced Driver Assistance System: ADAS)이 광범위하게 도입되면서 스테레오 카메라를이용한 물체 감지 및 거리 측정이 필수가 되고 있다. 하지만 스테레오 카메라는 물체와의 거리가 멀어질수록 측정 거리오차가 커지는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 77 GHz 단일채널 FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) 레이다와 비전 센서의 융합시스템을 개발하고, 카메라로 얻은 거리정보를 레이다로 보완하는 표적 매칭 알고리즘을 제안한다. 아울러 역으로 이용하여 영상 데이터를 이용, 단일채널 레이다로는 얻을 수 없는 도래 각 정보를 획득할 수 있음을 보였다. 실험을 통하여 본 시스템과 알고리즘의 타당성을 입증하였다.

Using real-life sports data of Major League Baseball, this paper investigates whether professional players follow the minimax theorem in their strategies. Our empirical results using the 2010 regular-season data show that baseball players do not optimize their strategies: there is a significant difference in their payoffs across strategies, and the sequence of their strategy choices is predictable from their previous actions. Using data from one of Australia's largest thoroughbred auction houses, we investigate the price determinants of thoroughbred yearlings sold at auction. We include novel key variables to construct hedonic pricing models and examine the relative role of stud fees compared to the wide range of attributes in the pricing of yearlings. We find that the price effect of stud fees is influenced by the value buyers place on both the characteristics of sires and the characteristics of sire side siblings.
