조중욱 교수의 연구실은 연속연춤판의 품질 제어를 위한 핵심 요소인 모드플럭스의 열전달 거동과 유변학적 거동을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히, 고강도 스틸의 연속연춤품질 저하 원인으로 작용하는 표면 균열과 윤활성 저하 메커니즘을 열전도, 복사열전달, 점도 특성 분석을 통해 규명하고 있으며, 이는 친환경적이고 안전한 철강제조 기술 개발에 기여하고 있습니다. 고온에서의 유리 구조 변화와 열물성 특성 간의 상관관계를 분석함으로써, 실용적 응용에 기여할 수 있는 모드플럭스 설계 원리를 제시하고 있습니다.

Absorption coefficient and extinction coefficient for various commercial mold fluxes have been determined to quantify the radiative and the total heat transfer through the flux film in continuous casting mold. The absorption coefficient is found to be less than 1000 m-1 for glassy specimens whereas the extinction coefficient is ca. 3000-30000 m-1 for crystalline ones.
