15Both histomorphometric analysis and micro-CT analysis were valid methods for measurement of the new bone in rat calvarial defects and the ability to detect the new bone in micro-CT analysis was highly influenced by the threshold level in the BMP-2 group at early stage.
The retained charge (memory window) of a ferroelectric capacitor measured by the pulse method is smaller than that measured by the continuous wave method. This is attributed to the relaxation phenomenon which represents the fast loss of the remanent polarization after removal of the applied voltage. The relaxation phenomenon is induced by the depolarization field which is affected by various parameters such as the ferroelectric properties and thickness of the ferroelectric film, measurement temp
Nonvolatile FRAMs with a design rule of 0.18㎛ were developed for the high performance smart card. A 1Mb FRAM was embedded in place of an EEPROM and a 64Kb FRAM was embedded in place of a SRAM. It was confirmed that the FRAMs performed the roles of the EEPROM and SRAM successfully using the asynchronous write/read operation method and the one time programming (OTP) scheme. The cycle time of the FRAM was 10 MHz, which remarkably improved the write performance of the smart card in comparison with t
Parnassius bremeri (P. bremeri), a member of the genus Snow Apollo in the swallowtail family (Papilionidae), is a high alpine butterfly that lives in Russia, Korea, and China. It is an endangered wildlife (Class I) in South Korea and is a globally endangered species. The lack of transcriptomic and genomic resources of P. bremeri significantly hinders the study of its population genetics and conservation. The detailed information of the developmental stage-specific gene expression patterns of P.
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which requires continuous treatment due to its relapsing nature. The current treatment includes steroids and nonsteroidal agents targeting inflammation but long-term administration causes various side effects such as skin atrophy, hirsutism, hypertension and diarrhea. Thus, there is an unmet need for safer and effective therapeutic agents in the treatment of AD. Peptides are small biomolecule drugs which are highly potent and remarkab
A method for the modeling of polarization-electric field (P-E) hysteresis curves of ferroelectric thin film with asymmetric electrode configuration was developed. The hysteresis curve of the ferroelectric capacitor with asymmetric electrode materials is shifted due to the work function difference between the top and bottom electrodes and the apparent polarization values are reduced as the screening length increases.
An embedded ferroelectric random access memory (eFRAM) with an electrical fuse (e-fuse) repair scheme, in which the repair information can be electrically programmed, was successfully developed for a high performance smart card. From the viewpoints of security and cost-efficiency, the e-fuse repair scheme with ferroelectric memory cell is the best way to improve the yield of the smart card. We realized a flexible and efficient repair scheme by controlling it with repair signals and the addresses

Classical antibiotics are the foremost treatment strategy against microbial infections. Overuse of this has led to the evolution of antimicrobial resistance. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are natural defense elements present across many species including humans, insects, bacteria, and plants. Insect AMPs are our area of interest, because of their stronger abilities in host defense. We have deciphered AMPs from an endangered species Parnassius bremeri, commonly known as the red spotted apollo but
Three species of Lepidoptera : Hendecaneura impar (Walsingham) of Tortricidae , Deltoplastis apostatis (Meyrick) of Lecithoceridae, and Doratoptera virescens Marumo of Geometridae , are reported for the first time from Korea. Styrax obassia Siebold and Zucc. is known for the first time for the larval host plant of H. Impar : larvae were collected from the host and reared with leaves of the plant until emergence. Images of adults and their female genitalia of the species are provided, and a photo
