Trans-Rotator Cuff Portal is Safe for Arthroscopic Superior Labral Anterior and Posterior Lesion Repair
Joo Han Oh, Sae Hoon Kim, Ho Kyoo Lee, Ki Hyun Jo, Kee Jeong Bae
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: There are numerous accessory portals for the arthroscopic repair of superior labral anterior and posterior lesions. Many surgeons are reluctant to make a portal through the cuff because of concern about iatrogenic injury to the cuff. HYPOTHESIS: An arthroscopic superior labral anterior and posterior lesion repair procedure using the trans-rotator cuff portal may yield favorable clinical and radiological outcomes, and cuffs may heal properly. STUDY DESIGN: Case series; Level of eviden

SJR Q1Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume)

As carpal tunnel syndrome is more common in women, particularly around the menopause, female-related risk factors are suspected to play a role in its pathogenesis. We have assessed whether female hormone-related symptoms are associated with upper extremity disabilities in women undergoing carpal tunnel release. A total of 92 women with a mean age of 53 years scheduled for surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome were assessed preoperatively for female hormone-related symptoms using the menopausal rati

Bong Cheol Kwon, Yong Shin Kwon, Kee Jeong Bae
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: Medial epicondylitis is a tendinopathy of the common flexor-pronator origin, and surgical treatment is required when this condition fails to respond to nonoperative methods. This study details the development of a new technique, termed fascial elevation and tendon origin resection (FETOR), which facilitates the complete visualization and resection of the CFPO with limited soft tissue dissection. PURPOSE: To evaluate the outcomes of FETOR for the treatment of chronic recalcitrant medi

Effective period of conservative treatment in patients with acute calcific periarthritis of the hand
Jihyeung Kim, Kee Jeong Bae, Do Weon Lee, Yo Han Lee, Hyun Sik Gong, Goo Hyun Baek
SJR Q1Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and ResearchOA

Patients with acute calcific periarthritis of the hand exhibited residual pain and calcification for a relatively prolonged period. Those who continued conservative treatment, including NSAIDs, showed pain relief and reduced calcification for up to 6 months. These results suggest that conservative treatment could be tried for at least 6 months before considering the surgical treatment of calcific periarthritis of the hand.

SJR Q2Journal of Foot and Ankle ResearchOA

Abstract Background Although accumulative evidence exists that support the applicability of multi‐segmental foot models (MFMs) in evaluating foot motion in various pathologic conditions, little is known of the effect of aging on inter‐segmental foot motion. The objective of this study was to evaluate differences in inter‐segmental motion of the foot between older and younger adult healthy females during gait using a MFM with 15‐marker set. Methods One hundred symptom‐free females, who had no rad

SJR Q1Clinics in Orthopedic SurgeryOA

The K-MHQ was found to have a large degree of responsiveness after carpal tunnel release for Korean patients with CTS, which is comparable not only to the K-DASH, but also to the original version of the MHQ. The region-specific K-MHQ can be useful for outcomes research related to carpal tunnel surgery, especially for research comparing CTS with various other hand and wrist health conditions.

SJR Q2Orthopedics

Synovial chondromatosis is an uncommon lesion of unknown etiology, characterized by progressive metaplasia associated with the formation of cartilage in the synovial membranes of joints, tendon sheaths, or bursae. Synovial chondromatosis is typically monoarticular and affects large joints such as the knee and hip, although it has also been described in the ankle, elbow, and shoulder. However, it rarely occurs in the wrist. Our literature review showed only 28 cases with wrist involvement, 13 cas

Hyun Sik Seok, Kyoung Hwan Lee, Yohan Lee, Kee Jeong Bae, Jihyeung Kim, Hyun Sik Gong
SJR Q2Annals of Plastic Surgery

Proprioception is thought to be essential for normal joint homeostasis, and its decreased function has been associated with an increased risk of joint diseases. However, only a few studies have been performed on the association between proprioceptive function in the trapeziometacarpal joint (TMCJ) and osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to compare TMCJ proprioceptive function in elderly women with radiographic TMCJ osteoarthritis relative to age-matched control women without osteoarthr
