연구실 소개

김기우 교수의 연구실은 뇌의 시상하부, 특히 복측중부핵(Ventromedial Hypothalamus, VMH)이 체내 에너지 균형과 대사 호메오스타시스를 어떻게 조절하는지에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. SF-1, FOXO1, AMPK, 그리고 석추세포 등 다양한 전사인자와 세포 기관이 VMH에서 어떻게 상호작용하여 체중 조절과 인슐린 감수성에 영향을 미치는지를 분자생물학적·신경생물학적 접근으로 규명하고 있습니다. 특히 비만, 당뇨, 만성 염증성 대사질환의 신경기전 기전을 밝히는 데 기여하고 있습니다.

In addition to the crucial effects on the hypothalamus, emerging evidence suggests that the leptin and insulin signaling can act on other brain regions to mediate the reward value of nutrients.
