15Maternal infection is an important factor causing neonatal brain injury and later developmental disability. In the present study, we investigated the effects of treadmill exercise intensity on short-term memory, hippocampal neurogenesis, and expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and tyrosine kinase receptor B (TrkB) in the rats born of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-exposed maternal rats. The rats were divided into six groups: control group, mild-intensity exercise group, moderate-in
Children need to participate in structured physical activities to avoid obesity and to engage in sports and games in the future. However, certain groups of our population have little access to enhance levels of physical activity. One such group is children from low-income families who are more likely to have less opportunity for participation in physical activity because of factors such as unsafe streets or limited access to playgrounds. According to the United States Department of Health and Hu
Scanning photoemission microscopy (SPEM) images of a graphene flake as well as the C 1s core level spectra for the mono- and multilayer graphene are measured. The samples with lateral dimensions on the micrometer scale are prepared on a SiO2 surface by direct exfoliation of crystalline graphite. Monolayer graphene is distinguished from the multilayer graphens through the chemical contrast images of SPEM.
Mobile phone use while walking can cause dual-task interference and increases safety risks by increasing attentional and cognitive demands. While the interference effect on cognitive function has been examined extensively, how perception of the environment and walking dynamics are affected by mobile phone use while walking is not well understood. The amount of visual information loss and its consequent impact on dynamic walking stability was examined in this study. Young adults (mean, 20.3 years
Postpartum depression (PPD) is defined as the depressive symptoms that occur from the moment of delivery until 12 months after delivery. PPD symptoms are closely associated with reduced activity of the serotonergic system. Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of depression. Tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) catalyzes the rate-limiting step of 5-HT biosynthesis in the serotonergic neurons. Exercise exerts anti-depressive effect on depression patients as wel
A concussion is a major concern across the athletic population. Prevention of concussions can lead to a decrease of 3.8 million concussions that occur annually in the United States. Vision training, increasing neck musculature strength and quick reaction times are thought to be ways to prevent concussions. The purpose of this study is to review the literature on vision training, neck musculature, and reaction time, and how these interventions can prevent concussions. Upon review of the literatur
Chemically stable SrO 1+ x surface oxide with c(6×2) superstructure is formed, creating space charge layer and surface band bending effects on undoped SrTiO 3 (001), under elevated oxygen pressure and temperature conditions.
Physical exercise is increasingly recognized as an important component in the neuroscience related field. What is the targeting of exercise and what accounts for the exercise's benefits observed in neuroscience? Several types of exercise have been studied in various fields across physiological, psychological, and biochemical experiments of neuroscience. However, more clarity is needed to unveil optimal exercise conditions such as frequency, intensity, type, and time. In this review, we briefly h
Defect formation through the fragmented formamidinium cation in lead iodide perovskite leads to the widening charge inversion layer and limited solar cell performance.
PURPOSE: The physiological role of adipocytokines on obesity, diabetes, and insulin resistance is not clearly understood yet. Furthermore, the mechanism of exercise-induced changes in plasma adiponectin in obesity and diabetes is not known well. The aim of this review is to describe the role of exercise on the adiponectin production in adipose tissue of the obesity and diabetes.METHODS: This study reviews 46 previous studies focusing on the effect of exercise on adiponectin in obese and diabetic
A key challenge in heterogeneous catalysis is to design atomically dispersed catalysts with high surface density, while simultaneously preventing agglomeration and promoting electronic metal-support interaction. Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), such as platinum diselenide (PtSe2), offer a promising solution due to their unique structural and electronic properties. This study proposes a catalyst design that utilizes atomically dispersed transition metal species within the topmost layer of
