15Psychological distress is common in patients with all stages of gastric cancer and is associated with worse outcomes.
Combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) is a rare form of primary liver cancer composed of cells with histopathologic features of both hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CC). Because of its low incidence, the information on clinical outcomes of cHCC-CC is very limited and there are no published reports describing non-surgical treatment options for cHCC-CC. We report a case of cHCC-CC exhibiting a favorable response to systemic chemotherapy with doxorubicin and ci
BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease is second only to cancer recurrence as a determinant of lifespan in cancer survivors, and cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction is a clinically important risk factor. We aim to investigate the use of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to evaluate early tissue changes and perform functional assessment of chemo- and radiation-induced cardiotoxicity and to identify MRI prognostic indicators of cardiotoxicity in breast cancer patients. METHODS: A 3-min c
Transcriptional programs governed by YAP play key roles in conferring resistance to various molecular-targeted anticancer agents. Strategies aimed at inhibiting YAP activity have garnered substantial interest as a means to overcome drug resistance. However, despite extensive research into the canonical Hippo-YAP pathway, few clinical agents are currently available to counteract YAP-associated drug resistance. Here, we present a novel mechanism of YAP stability regulation by MAP3K3 that is indepe
Elderly patients with resectable colon cancer received surgical treatment in more than 95% of cases without reference to age or diagnosis year. The proportion of patients who received adjuvant treatment increased according to the recency of diagnosis, but decreased abruptly according to increase in age.
Gastrointestinal melanosis is observed most frequently in the colon it also can develop in the ileum, duodenum and esophagus very rarely. Melanosis ilei was thought that causative materials such as aluminum, magnesium, silicate, titanium and other compounds entered the body through the ingestion of agents. We experienced a case of melanosis in the terminal ileum that a 65-year-old female patient ingested 10 g edible charcoal everyday for 3 years to address symptoms of chronic abdominal pain. In
Abstract Background GX-I7 (rhIL-7-hyFc, efineptakin alfa) is a hybrid Fc-fused long-acting interleukin-7 (IL-7) with the aim of correcting T-cell deficiency, thereby strengthening the immune response to fight against cancer. This Phase 1b, dose-escalation study was designed to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD) of GX-I7 in patients with locally advanced or metastatic solid tumours. Methods This study, conducted in patients with advanced solid tumour
TPS587 Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive tumor with poor prognosis. There are no molecular targets for TNBC, and there is an unmet need to provide new drugs to patients with TNBC. Platinum agents are known to have an anti-tumor activity in TNBC, especially in BRCA-mutated tumor. Addition of carboplatin significantly increased pathologic complete response rates with neoadjuvant chemotherapy in recent randomized studies. There are no data about adjuvant role of carb
PURPOSE: Dose-dense chemotherapy (DD-CT) is a preferred (neo)adjuvant regimen in early breast cancer (BC). Although the results of reported randomized trials are conflicting, a recent metaanalysis showed improved overall and disease-free survival with DD-CT compared to conventional schedules. However, no DD-CT safety data for Korean BC patients are available. This phase II study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of pegteograstim in Korean BC patients receiving DD-CT. MATERIALS AN
Abstract Background: Routine screening for brain metastases (BMs) is currently not recommended in patients with metastatic breast cancer (BC). There is a growing consensus on the need for the screening of BMs in HER2 positive and triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) because 40% of patients experience BMs throughout the disease course and systemic treatment options with intracranial efficacy are now available. However, there is a lack of prospective study data on this matter. We conducted a prosp
