15c-MYC GCN gain was an independent factor for poor prognosis in consecutive CRC patients and in the stage II-III subgroup. Our findings indicate that the status of c-MYC may be helpful in predicting the patients' outcome and for managing CRC patients.
Programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) detection assays have not been standardized for patients with colorectal cancer, and the prognostic value of PD-L1 expression is unclear. We compared the PD-L1 expression patterns in colorectal cancer samples using various immunohistochemical assays using 3 primary PD-L1 antibodies (assay 1, MIH1; assay 2, E1L3; and assay 3, 22C3) and investigated the prognostic implication of PD-L1 expression using each. Additionally, PD-L1 gene amplification was evaluated
Co-expression of c-MYC and ß-catenin was independently correlated with favorable prognosis in CRC patient. We concluded that the expression of c-MYC and ß-catenin might be useful predicting indicator of CRC patient's prognosis.
To determine whether intraarticular pretreatment with N-methyl-D-aspartic (NMDA) receptor antagonist ketamine or memantine currently used in humans has prophylactic analgesia in arthritic pain, we examined the effects of their intraarticular injection before carrageenan injection into the knee joint on pain-related behavior and spinal c-Fos expression in rats. Injection of ketamine (0.2 mg and 1 mg) or memantine (0.1 mg, 0.2 mg, and 1 mg) into the knee joint, but not the abdominal cavity, immedi
We recommend a combination of IDH-1 and EGFR for immunohistochemical classification of glioblastomas. We expect our results to be useful for determining treatment strategies for glioblastoma patients.
This paper elucidates experimental economists' recent attempts to link their laboratory endeavours to the realm of policies. To be concrete, by concentrating on some of the well-known policy-related works conducted by three thriving research programs in experimental economics, this paper demonstrates what kinds of perspectives contemporary experimental economists take towards a foundational issue in economics, rationality. The disunity this paper finds in experimental economists' practices is in
BACKGROUND: Natural killer (NK) cells mediate the anti-tumoral immune response as an important component of innate immunity. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic significance and functional implication of NK cell-associated surface receptors in gastric cancer (GC) by using multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC). METHODS: We performed an mIHC on tissue microarray slides, including 55 GC tissue samples. A total of 11 antibodies including CD57, NKG2A, CD16, HLA-E, CD3, CD20, CD45,
miR-21 expression is observed in cancer stroma related to the CAF quantity and frequently presents regional heterogeneity in CRC. Our findings indicate that the role of miR-21 in predicting prognosis may be controversial but provide a new perspective of miR-21 level measurement in cancer specimens.
This article takes one of the necessary, albeit rudimentary, steps toward coming to grips with the legitimation of laboratory experimentation in economics. To be specific, it aims to identify a subset of the nonexperimentalists in the economics profession who explicitly endorsed, between the early 1980s and the early 1990s, the legitimacy and the social usefulness of Vernon Smith's and Charles Plott's laboratory studies. By exploring several dimensions of the network established among Smith, Plo
We focused on the utility of the droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) for detecting c-MYC gene copy number (GCN) gain in cell-free plasma and tumor tissue of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. c-MYC GCN status was determined using dual-color silver in situ hybridization (SISH) and ddPCR in retrospective cohort 1 (192 CRC patients) and prospective cohort 2 (64 CRC patients). In cohort 1, c-MYC GCN gain was observed in 34 (17.5%) patients by SISH, and in 7 (3.6%) patients by ddPCR. c-M
Intraosseous myoepithelial tumors are very rare. Due to the low incidence and diverse histologic features, accurate diagnosis is challenging, necessitating ancillary immunohistochemistry. Moreover, genetic abnormality in this tumor was not revealed until recently. Although EWSR1 translocation is involved in half of the cases of intraosseous myoepithelioma, only a few cases have indicated its counterpart gene. We herein describe a case of intraosseous myoepithelioma with a novel localization in t
