연구실 소개
공경혜 교수의 연구실은 노화와 관련된 신장 손상 메커니즘을 규명하고, 특히 Sirt1과 HIF-1α 간의 상호작용이 노화성 신손상에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 또한, 식물성 폴리페놀(예: 레스베라트롤), 미네랄(셀레늄), 식품 첨가물(색소), 천연 화합물(카로시신) 등 다양한 생체활성 물질이 신장 기능, 신경 발생, 세포 사멸 및 증식에 미치는 영향을 분자생물학적·세포생물학적 방법으로 규명하고 있습니다. 특히 노화, 만성 신장질환, 신경계 기능 이상과 관련된 분자 기전을 탐색하며, 향후 치료적 응용 가능성을 모색하고 있습니다.

고요산혈증의 치료는 전통적으로 요산 생성을 억제하는 전략에 초점을 맞추어 왔으나, 요산 배설 저하가 주된 병태로 작용하는 환자에서는 이러한 접근만으로 충분한 치료 효과를 얻기 어려운 경우가있다. 특히 만성신장질환(chronic kidney disease, CKD) 환자에서는 신장 기능 저하와 요산 배설 이상이동반되면서 고요산혈증의 임상적 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 요산의 체내 항상성은 생성과 배설의 균형에 의해 유지되며, 신장은 요산 배설을 조절하는 주요 기관으로 작용한다. 특히 근위 세뇨관에서의 재흡수와 분비 과정은 다양한 요산 수송체에 의해 정교하게 조절되며, 이 중 urate transporter 1 (URAT1)은 요산 재흡수를 매개하는 핵심 수송체로 알려져 있다. 최근 요산 배설 저하형 고요산혈증의 병태생리에 대한이해가 심화되면서, URAT1 억제제는 요산 재흡수를 선택적으로 차단하여 요산 배설을 증가시키는 새로운치료 전략으로 주목받고 있다. 본 종설에서는 URAT1 억
