15Group decision-making often benefits from diverse perspectives, yet power imbalances and social influence can stifle minority opinions and compromise outcomes. This prequel introduces an AI-mediated communication system that leverages the Large Language Model to serve as a devil's advocate, representing underrepresented viewpoints without exposing minority members' identities. Rooted in persuasive communication strategies and anonymity, the system aims to improve psychological safety and foster
This paper presents an FPGA implementation of a full whitted-style ray tracing accelerator. It achieves about 1.3 M rays per second over realistic 3 D scenes. The future implementation with ASIC is expected to achieve real-time performance.
Group dance, a sub-genre characterized by intricate motions made by a cohort of performers in tight synchronization, has a longstanding and culturally significant history and, in modern forms such as cheerleading, a broad base of current adherents. However, despite its popularity, learning group dance routines remains challenging. Based on the prior success of interactive systems to support individual dance learning, this paper argues that group dance settings are fertile ground for augmentation
Cheerleading is a highly structured, synchronized activity to cheer the team up as a form of encouragement. However, it is challenging for the cheerleaders and the spectators to understand such meanings in their intensive movement. To our best knowledge, there is no real-time interactive system designed to aim to integrate multi-pose estimation, pose-similarity computations, and ambient visualization. To address the gap, we propose a real-time interactive visualization system, CheerUp, that can
Figure 1: Group-centered AI: A three-tiered framework illustrating the relationship between human-centered AI (micro-level: individual, personal, UX), group-centered AI (mezzo-level: groups, organizations, group dynamics), and society-centered AI (macro-level: society, policies, laws).Dotted lines show connections between entities across levels, demonstrating how group dynamics bridge individual cognition and broader societal structures.
A conductor provides a single unified vision of how to interpret and perform music. However, perceiving a conductor's musical intention and expression is quite challenging as they convey information to performers with subtle, nuanced, and highly individualized gestures. This artwork visualizes the conductor's gestures in order to give the audience a better understanding of its expressivity. To represent the expressivity of the gestures, we created motion profiles over eight frames, at 30 frames
A policy is a set of ideas or plans that is used as a basis for making decisions, especially in politics, economics, or business, and it serves as a reference for the organization's activities or specific individual. In this sense, it is important to strengthen the capability of security performance. When it comes to Industrial Control Systems (ICS) which considerably affect the national security, policy compliance with consideration of ICS's characteristic is crucial. This paper is based on dat
Generative UI is transforming interface design by facilitating AIdriven collaborative workflows between designers and computational systems. This study establishes a working definition of Generative UI through a multi-method qualitative approach, integrating insights from a systematic literature review of 127 publications, expert interviews with 18 participants, and analyses of 12 case studies. Our findings identify five core themes that position Generative UI as an iterative and co-creative proce
Advanced low-cost highly accurate sensing technology has transformed gestural interfaces making the recognition of qualitative and expressive content in musical gestures more vital than ever before. Seeking insight into designing rich interactions that support creative, flexible, high bandwidth control and communication, we chose ensemble conducting as a potentially deeply informative paradigm. We performed an exploratory analysis of qualitative aspects of conducting gestures that reveals an imp
The Wikipedia, one of the richest human knowledge repositories on the Internet, has been developed by collective intelligence. To gain insight into Wikipedia, one asks how initial ideas emerge and develop to become a concrete article through the online collaborative process? Led by this question, the author performed a microscopic observation of the knowledge creation process on the recent article, "Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster." The author collected not only the revision history of the ar
Advances in Generative AI (GenAI) enable unexpected creation in visual images. In fashion design, this capability has intensified demand for creativity support tools where fast-paced trends challenge fixation and drive exploration of novel creative directions. While prior work has explored interfaces that align designer intent with GenAI outputs, we still lack an empirical understanding of how fashion designers define, seek, and utilize AI-generated surprise as a valuable resource and actionable
The oboe is considered one of the most difficult woodwind instruments to learn due to the labor involved in mastering the embouchure required to produce a steady, long tone through the instrument’s reeds. Previous research in music education has suggested that using visualization or imagery as a training method, so-called audiation, helps novice learners gain a better understanding of the relationship between sound and embouchure. Inspired by this concept, we designed an interactive learning sys
Advances in sensing technology make the task of quantifying expressive human body movement more feasible than ever before. Success will enable breakthroughs in Human-computer interaction (HCI) and control paradigms. In most areas, however, expressivity remains vague and difficult to define. We examine the movements of instrumental conductors at an elementary level to define particular qualities of a beat. In our test case, we focus on the difference between sostenuto and staccato articulation st
