연구실 소개

정민환 교수의 연구실은 해마와 기저구조의 신경 회로 기반 인지 기능, 특히 공간 기억과 보상 기반 학습의 신경 기제를 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 장기 강화(LTP), 히포크암프의 장소 세포 활동, 기저구조의 직접/간접 경로 신경 회로의 기능적 역할을 전기생리학적, 행동 실험을 통해 규명하고 있습니다. 또한 천연물질(예: 귤초, 아시아티코사이드 유도체)의 뇌 보호 및 인지 향상 효과에 대한 기전 연구도 병행하고 있습니다.

Spatial selectivity of unit activity in the hippocampal granular layer

Single neuron activity was recorded in the granular layer of the fascia dentata in freely moving rats, while the animals performed a spatial "working" memory task on an eight-arm maze. Using recording methods that facilitate detection of units with low discharge rates, it was found that the majority (88%) of cells in this layer have mean rates below 0.5 Hz, with a minimum of 0.01 Hz or less. We investigated the cognition enhancing effects of ginsenoside Rb1 and Rg1. Mice were trained in a Morris water maze following injection (i.p.) of Rb1 (1 mg/kg) or Rg1 (1 mg/kg) for 4 days.
