15In conclusion, LDLT showed poorer outcome than DDLT. This should be considered to select optimal strategy for HCC.
Histopathological factors, i.e., dedifferentiation and tumor infiltrating inflammation of the metastatic lesion, could be one of the risk factors of aggressive behavior as well as the number of metastases even after curative resection for CRLM.
We report the effect of different surface treatment and passivation techniques on the stability of InGaAs/InP heterojunction phototransistors (HPTs). An In0.53Ga0.47As surface passivated with aqueous ammonium sulfide ((NH4)2S), aluminum oxide (Al2O3) grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD), and their combination is evaluated by using Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). All samples were kept in the air ambient, and their performances were periodically measured to investi
The association between polymorphisms of glutathione-related enzyme (GST) genes and the risk of schizophrenia has been investigated in many published studies. However, their results were inconclusive. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to explore the association between the GSTM1, GSTT1, and GSTP1 polymorphisms and the risk of schizophrenia. Twelve case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were used to investigate the
Integration of an InGaAs/InP quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) onto a Si substrate was successfully demonstrated via a metal-assisted wafer bonding (MWB) using a Mo/Au metal scheme. The Mo/Au/Mo layer, situated between the QWIP structure and the Si, has shown a well-ordered lamination. It provides a smooth surface with a roughness of about 0.8 nm, as measured by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results on crystalline quality evaluated by Raman
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are associated with the invasion and metastatic relapse of various cancers. However, current cancer therapies are limited to targeting the bulk of primary tumor cells while remaining the CSCs untouched. Here, we report a new proton (H + ) modulation approach to selectively eradicate CSCs via cutting off the H + leaks on the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM). Based on the fruit extract of Gardenia jasminoides, a multimodal molecule channel blocker with high biosafety, na
(18)F-Fluorodeoxyglucose positron-emission with computed tomography ((18)F-FDG PET-CT) is an imaging technique based on the increased uptake of glucose characteristically seen in malignant lesions. The preoperative maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of PET-CT has been identified as a powerful significant prognostic factor for predicting recurrence in malignant tumors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine whether (18)F-FDG PET-CT has a prognostic significance in patients with
Background: We aimed to elucidate the preventive effects of taurine against osteopenia in ovariectomized (OVX) rats and the mechanisms by which taurine regulates osteoblastogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Methods: The effects of the taurine on human osteoblast MG-63 cell differentiation and osteoblastogenesis effect in OVX rat were examined Konkuk University in 2018 by evaluating osteoblast differentiation, and expression of osteoblast-specific factors by western blotting analysis. Results: Taurin
The indication for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is expanding in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). Early detection and effective management of recurrence has become an important issue in LDLT for HCC. This study aimed to find an optimal screening protocol in terms of screening interval and screening tools by analyzing recurrence pattern after LDLT for HCC. A total of 205 LDLT patients in two centers from February 1999 to October 2010 was reviewed. Recurrence appeared in 55 cases. Six r
Thioredoxin domain-containing protein-5 (TXNDC5) has been found to be associated with cancer development and growth. We investigated whether TXNDC5 gene polymorphisms are associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in a Korean male population. Seven SNPs were selected based on minor allelic frequency (≥5%). The SNPs consisted of three exonic SNPs (rs8643, rs7764128 and rs1043784) and four intronic SNPs (rs1225944, rs1225943, rs1225945 and rs1225958). We selected and assessed these SNPs in 160
