CyberPsychology & Behavior

As the number of internet users increases, a new game genre using the internet as a networking tool is emerging. Some game genres are regarded as having greater addiction potentials than others. Games and the internet are closely related. We investigated games frequently used by adolescents and classified each of them with the help of game professionals. We also examined internet use patterns to identify relationships between game genre and internet use patterns. 627 middle school and high schoo

We have relatively limited knowledge of symptomatic aspects of the postmenopause, rather than perimenopause. We tried to determine the factors associated with experiencing menopausal symptoms by Korean postmenopausal women. A total of 657 Korean women who underwent a natural menopause completed multiple questionnaires, which included questions regarding their attitudes to menopause, depressive symptoms, state anxiety, self-esteem, dyadic relationships, sociodemographic variables, and 11-item Men

SJR Q2Journal of Clinical PsychopharmacologyOA

Although there are few studies on the treatment of schizophrenia with testosterone, several indirect findings have suggested testosterone as a possible treatment modality for schizophrenia. To explore the therapeutic effect of testosterone augmentation of antipsychotic medication on symptoms in male patients with schizophrenia, the authors performed a placebo-controlled, double-blind trial on 30 schizophrenic men, using either 5 g of 1% testosterone gel (Testogel; Besins Iscovesco, Paris, France

The HR population showed increased activity, presumably indicating greater compensatory deployment, in relation to both the TD and the PBD, in the key cognition and emotion-processing regions, such as the DLPFC, insula, and parietal cortex. In contrast, patients with PBD, relative to HR and TD, showed decreased activity, which could indicate a decreased effort in multiple PFC regions in addition to widespread subcortical abnormalities, which are suggestive of a more entrenched disease process.

AIM: The objective of the present study was to assess the efficacy and safety of bromocriptine treatment for patients with antipsychotic-drug-induced hyperprolactinemia in clinical practice. METHODS: This was an 8-week randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study. Sixty female schizophrenia patients were enrolled and were randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups: bromocriptine 2.5 mg/day, 5 mg/day, 10 mg/day, and placebo. Serum levels of prolactin, estradiol (E2), lut

Personalized Medicine Using Neuroimmunological Biomarkers in Depressive Disorders
SuHyuk Chi, Moon‐Soo Lee
SJR Q2Journal of Personalized MedicineOA

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is associated with increased suicidal risk and reduced productivity at work. Neuroimmunology, the study of the immune system and nervous system, provides further insight into the pathogenesis and outcome of MDD. Cytokines are the main modulators of neuroimmunology, and their levels are somewhat entangled in depressive disorders as they affect depressive symptoms and are affected by antidepressant treatment. The use of cytokine-derived medication as a treatment opt

SJR Q3NeuroreportOA

Major depressive disorder is a major mental disorder affecting adolescents. Cortical thickness provides a sensitive measure of age-associated changes. Previous studies using cortical thickness analysis reported inconsistent results on brain structural changes in adolescent major depressive disorder. The neuroanatomical substrates of major depressive disorder in adolescents are not fully understood. We aimed to compare the anatomical structures of the brain in first-onset drug-naïve adolescents w

SJR Q1Psychiatry Research NeuroimagingOA

Adolescence is a vulnerable period for major depressive disorder (MDD). The aim of our study was to investigate resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) in first-episode, medication-naïve adolescent MDD patients. Twenty-three drug-naïve adolescents diagnosed with first-episode MDD and 27 healthy participants were enrolled. Seed-to-voxel RSFC analyses were performed. The frontolimbic circuit regions of interest included the amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex, insula, and hippocampus. A corre

OBJECTIVES: We evaluated the efficacy and safety of long-acting risperidone for 48-week period in Korean patients. METHODS: This was a non-randomized, open-label, single-centered, 48-week study. Each of the participants visited the hospital every 2 weeks, and injections were given at each visit. Complete evaluations were done on five occasions (baseline, 12, 24, 36, 48 weeks). We used Clinical Global Impression, Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale, Global Assessment of Functioning, Subjective W
