SJR Q1Radiology

Background Local tumor progression (LTP) is associated with poorer survival in patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for colorectal liver metastasis (CLM). An algorithmic strategy to predict LTP may help in selection of patients who would benefit most from RFA for CLM. Purpose To estimate local tumor progression-free survival (LTPFS) following RFA of CLM and develop an algorithmic strategy based on clinical variables. Materials and Methods In this retrospective study, between March 2

SJR Q2Journal of Korean Medical ScienceOA

BACKGROUND: A positive association between birth weight (BW) and body mass index (BMI) has been shown among children in many populations. The aim of this study was to investigate BMI trajectory according to BW status and the protective effect of breastfeeding on the prevalence of overweight/obesity in children 6 years of age. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2016 utilizing data from the National Health Information Database of Korea. The

SJR Q2International Journal of Environmental Research and Public HealthOA

Few birth cohort studies have examined the role of traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) in the development of infantile atopic dermatitis (AD), but none have investigated the role of preventive factors such as green spaces. The aim of this study was to investigate whether exposure to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of <10 μm (PM10) during pregnancy is associated with increased risk of development of AD in 6-month-old children and also to examine how

Background Although emerging evidence suggests that periodontitis might increase the risk of cancer, comorbidity and lifestyle behaviors, such as smoking and body mass index (BMI), may have confounded this reported association. This study aimed to investigate whether chronic periodontitis is associated with cancer risk using a large, nationwide database. Methods We conducted a population-based, retrospective cohort study using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Cohort Database obtain

Association of Long-term Use of Low-Dose Aspirin as Chemoprevention With Risk of Lung Cancer
Shinhee Ye, Myeongjee Lee, Dongheon Lee, Eun‐Hee Ha, Eun Mi Chun
SJR Q1JAMA Network OpenOA

Although the use of low-dose aspirin for more than 5 years was associated with decreased risk of lung cancer, particularly among elderly participants and among people without diabetes, the observed effect size was quite modest. Future prospective studies are needed to determine whether there is a causal association.

OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether ancillary features can help stratify malignancy risk in Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) category 3 (LR-3) and 4 (LR-4) observations. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This retrospective longitudinal study included 106 LR-3 or LR-4 observations on gadolinium-enhanced MRI obtained from January 2014 to December 2015 in 80 patients who were treatment naïve and at risk (mean age, 58.0 ± 10.7 [SD] years; 60 men). Exposure to heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury poses serious health risks to pregnant women because of their high toxicity. In this study, we investigated the associations of heavy metal exposure with birth outcomes of Korean infants. Data of 5,215 women between 2015 and 2019 were analyzed. This study was part of the Korean Children's Environmental Health (Ko-CHENS) study. Linear regression and logistic regression analyses were used to examine effects of concentrations of lead, cadm

SJR Q1Liver InternationalOA

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) risk in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) substantially decreased in the era of potent antiviral therapy. We developed an optimized HCC risk prediction model for CHB with well-controlled viremia by nucelos(t)ide analogs (NUCs). METHOD: We analysed those who achieved virological response (VR; serum HBV-DNA < 2000 IU/mL on two consecutive assessments) by NUCs. Liver stiffness by transient elastography, ultrasonography and laboratory tests was performed a

SJR Q1Alzheimer s Research & TherapyOA

BACKGROUND: Restless leg syndrome (RLS) is associated with poor sleep quality, depression or anxiety, poor dietary patterns, microvasculopathy, and hypoxia, all of which are known risk factors for dementia. However, the relationship between RLS and incident dementia remains unclear. This retrospective cohort study aimed to explore the possibility that RLS could be deemed as a non-cognitive prodromal feature of dementia. METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study using the Korean National Hea

Differences in survival for patients with familial and sporadic cancer
Myeongjee Lee, Marie Reilly, Linda S. Lindström, Kamila Czene
SJR Q1International Journal of CancerOA

Family history of cancer is a well-known risk factor but the role of family history in survival is less clear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between family history and cancer survival for the common cancers in Sweden. Using the Swedish population-based registers, patients diagnosed with the most common cancers were followed for cancer-specific death during 1991-2010. We used multivariate proportional hazards (Cox) regression models to contrast the survival of patients

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

We assessed the diagnostic accuracy of the age-adjusted quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score (qSOFA) for predicting mortality and disease severity in pediatric patients with suspected or confirmed infection. We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. Eleven studies with a total of 172,569 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio of the age-adjusted qSOFA for predicting
