15Transition metal based layered double hydroxides are important energy storage materials. The overall performances of the electrodes are dependent on conductivity, crystallinity, morphology, and surface area.
Lithium–sulfur batteries (LSBs) are one of the most promising next-generation batteries because they have higher theoretical capacities, lower cost, and smaller environmental impact than lithium-ion batteries (LIBs).
As a novel carbon allotrope, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have been investigated in various fields, including photocatalysis, bioimaging, optoelectronics, energy and photovoltaic devices, biosensing, and drug delivery owing to their unique optical and electronic properties. In particular, CQDs' excellent sunlight harvesting ability, tunable photoluminescence (PL), up-conversion photoluminescence (UCPL), and efficient photo-excited electron transfer have enabled their applications in photocatalysis
Interest in carbon quantum dots (CQDs) has recently boomed due to their potential to enhance the performance of various solar technologies as nontoxic, naturally abundant, and cleanly produced nanomaterials. CQDs and their other variations, such as nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) and graphene quantum dots (GQDs), have improved the performance of luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) and photovoltaic (PV) cells due to their excellent optical properties. As fluorophores in LSCs, CQDs a
This review discusses advances in polyethylene glycol-based composite phase change materials (PCMs) for thermal energy storage (TES) and thermal regulation. PCMs utilize latent heat storage, absorbing and releasing energy during phase transitions within specific temperature ranges. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a promising organic PCM due to its easily tunable phase change temperatures, high melting/freezing enthalpies, and nontoxicity, among other advantages. However, PEG suffers from low therma
In this review, the nature of graphene composites of various transition metals and their role in electrocatalysis mainly in OER studies has been explored. Further, tuning of different structures with pioneering modifications are also elaborated.
ABSTRACT Industries produce large amounts of heavy metal waste that are hazardous to the environment. Thus, heavy metal ions such as nickel (II), lead (II), copper (II), cadmium (II), and zinc (II), must be removed from wastewater. One commonly employed method is biosorption, which is the adsorption of metal ions by biomaterials such as polysaccharides. In this review, polysaccharides are classified into four groups: polysaccharide homopolymers, polysaccharide blends, copolymers, and polysacchar
Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have attracted considerable attention as promising materials for electrochemical and optical sensors owing to their excellent catalytic properties, facile synthesis strategies, highly tunable morphology, and versatile hosting ability. LDH-based electrochemical sensors are affordable alternatives to traditional precious-metal-based sensors, as LDHs can be synthesized from abundant inorganic precursors. LDH-modified probes can directly catalyze or host catalytic co
Despite the great advances in microsurgery, some neural injuries cannot be treated surgically. Stem cell therapy is a potential approach for treating neuroinjuries and neurodegenerative disease. Researchers have developed various bioactive scaffolds for tissue engineering, exhibiting enhanced cell viability, attachment, migration, neurite elongation, and neuronal differentiation, with the aim of developing functional tissue grafts that can be incorporated in vivo. Facilitating the appropriate in
This review, for the first time, provides concise insights into the synthetic methods, material characterization, and recent strategies for boosting the OER activity of various sol–gel-derived composites paving the way for subsequent research.
This review addresses polymer microspheres used as adsorbent for wastewater treatment. The removal of various pollutants (including dyes, heavy metal ions, and organic pollutants) is a prominent issue, as they can cause severe health problems. Porous microspheres can provide large specific area and active sites for adsorption or photo degradation. Enhancement in performance is achieved by various modifications, such as the introduction of nanoparticles, magnetic particles, and ZIF-8. Some micros
