Prognostic Factors Affecting Anatomic Outcome of Rotator Cuff Repair and Correlation With Functional Outcome
Joo Han Oh, Sae Hoon Kim, Hyung Min Ji, Ki Hyun Jo, Sung Woo Bin, Hyun Sik Gong
SJR Q1Arthroscopy The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery

PURPOSE: To analyze the relationship between functional outcomes and postoperative cuff integrity (anatomic outcome), and to reveal the factors affecting outcomes of rotator cuff repair. METHODS: Seventy-eight patients who had undergone repair of full-thickness rotator cuff tear received both computed tomographic arthrography (CTA) and functional evaluation a minimum of 1 year after surgery. The mean follow-up period was 19.6 months (range, 12 to 39 months). Anatomic outcome was evaluated by CTA

Moderate Preoperative Shoulder Stiffness Does Not Alter the Clinical Outcome of Rotator Cuff Repair With Arthroscopic Release and Manipulation
Joo Han Oh, Sae Hoon Kim, Ho Kyoo Lee, Ki Hyun Jo, Sung Woo Bin, Hyun Sik Gong
SJR Q1Arthroscopy The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine whether moderate preoperative shoulder stiffness affects the clinical outcome of rotator cuff repair, and to evaluate the serial change in range of motion (ROM), functional scores, pain, and satisfaction after rotator cuff repair. METHODS: Rotator cuff repair was performed in 125 consecutive patients (127 shoulders). Thirty patients had concomitant moderate shoulder stiffness at the time of the repair. There were no statistical differences in s

Effect of Age on Functional and Structural Outcome after Rotator Cuff Repair
Joo Han Oh, Sae Hoon Kim, Jong Yeal Kang, Chung Hee Oh, Hyun Sik Gong
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: There are numerous reports on the outcome of rotator cuff repair according to age. However, the results are conflicting and driven by univariate analysis, which is not free of confounding factors. HYPOTHESIS: Age does not affect the anatomical and functional outcomes of rotator cuff repair. STUDY DESIGN: Case series; Level of evidence, 4. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eighty-one men and 96 women underwent rotator cuff repair at one institution and received computed tomography arthrography a

Evaluation of Repair Tension in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair
Do Hoon Kim, Young Hoon Jang, Young Eun Choi, Hwa-Ryeong Lee, Sae Hoon Kim
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: Repair tension of a torn rotator cuff can affect healing after repair. However, a measurement of the actual tension during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is not feasible. The relationship between repair tension and healing of a rotator cuff repair remains unclear. PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of repair tension on healing at the repair site. The hypothesis was that repair tension would be a major factor in determining the anatomic outcome

Do Selective COX-2 Inhibitors Affect Pain Control and Healing After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair? A Preliminary Study
Joo Han Oh, Hyuk Jun Seo, Ye-Hyun Lee, Hye‐Yeon Choi, Ho Yun Joung, Sae Hoon Kim
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: Selective cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 inhibitors are commonly used analgesics that provide similar analgesia as that of other analgesics but with fewer adverse effects. However, few prospective studies have performed comparative analyses in this regard. PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of a selective COX-2 inhibitor in early postoperative pain control, satisfaction with pain management, and incidence of systemic adverse effects in patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Postoperative Imaging of Bioabsorbable Anchors in Rotator Cuff Repair
Sae Hoon Kim, Joo Han Oh, O-Sung Lee, Hwa-Ryeong Lee, Alan R. Hargens
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: Bioabsorbable anchors may lead to osteolysis and cyst formation. However, the prevalence of these outcomes is not known for rotator cuff repairs. PURPOSE: To evaluate cyst formation after placement of bioabsorbable anchors for rotator cuff repairs and to verify whether bioabsorbable anchors degraded as intended and preserved bone stock for possible revision compared with metal anchors. The null hypothesis was that the rate and severity of cyst formation around the anchor are negligib

Trans-Rotator Cuff Portal is Safe for Arthroscopic Superior Labral Anterior and Posterior Lesion Repair
Joo Han Oh, Sae Hoon Kim, Ho Kyoo Lee, Ki Hyun Jo, Kee Jeong Bae
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: There are numerous accessory portals for the arthroscopic repair of superior labral anterior and posterior lesions. Many surgeons are reluctant to make a portal through the cuff because of concern about iatrogenic injury to the cuff. HYPOTHESIS: An arthroscopic superior labral anterior and posterior lesion repair procedure using the trans-rotator cuff portal may yield favorable clinical and radiological outcomes, and cuffs may heal properly. STUDY DESIGN: Case series; Level of eviden

Perianchor Cyst Formation Around Biocomposite Biodegradable Suture Anchors After Rotator Cuff Repair
Sae Hoon Kim, Do Yeon Kim, Ji Eun Kwon, Ji Soon Park, Joo Han Oh
SJR Q1The American Journal of Sports Medicine

BACKGROUND: Biodegradable anchors may lead to perianchor cyst formation or osteolysis. A new generation of anchors containing osteoconductive material was recently presented, but there is currently no solid evidence that this concept decreases cyst formation around anchors. HYPOTHESIS: The null hypothesis was that the prevalence and severity of cyst formation around anchors would be similar for all 3 anchor types. STUDY DESIGN: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 2. METHODS: To evaluate differences
