15Background : The HLA system is known to be the most polymorphic gene cluster in the human genome. HLA allele and haplotype distribution varies widely among different ethnic groups. In this study, we examined the frequency of HLA class I alleles and haplotypes in 309 healthy Koreans. Methods : We typed HLA-A, -B, and -C genes at the allelic level in 109 unrelated Korean individuals using a sequence-based typing. With the additional data of 200 healthy Koreans from dbMHC (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.g
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical significance of 18F-FDG uptake by the spleen in patients with autoimmune disease. <b>Methods:</b> We retrospectively reviewed Severance Hospital's electronic medical records of patients hospitalized for the evaluation of fever who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT. We found 91 patients with autoimmune diseases and 101 patients with localized infection. 18F-FDG uptake was assessed by measuring SUV in the spleen and liv
We evaluated the UF-100 flow cytometer (TOA Medical Electronics, Kobe, Japan) as a screening test for community-acquired urinary tract infection (UTI) to reduce the need for bacterial cultures. By comparing the test results for 330 urine samples with quantitative urine cultures, we established cutoff criteria for the UF-100. To rule out hospital-acquired UTI, all urine samples were from new patients who had not been admitted to a hospital within the previous month. Abacterial cutoff value of 3,0
Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of pretreatment 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ( 18 F-FDG PET/CT) in patients with localized primary gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and to compare the predictive values of 18 F-FDG PET/CT parameters with those of clinicopathological prognostic factors. Methods Sixty-two localized GIST patients who underwent staging with 18 F-FDG PET/CT from January 2007 to December 2013 before
Metabolic tumor volume and TLG are independent prognostic factors for predicting PFS and OS in patients with metastatic RCC. Furthermore, MTV and TLG could provide additional prognostic information in patients with clinically high-risk metastatic RCC treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor-targeted therapies.
Metabolic tumor volume and TLG on preoperative PET/CT were independent prognostic factors for EHMFS and OS but not IHRFS in patients with very early/early HCC. Therefore, patients with high MTV or TLG should be closely observed for extrahepatic metastasis using systemic evaluations.
FDG uptake of PVTT, but not FDG uptake of HCC, is an independent prognostic factor for PFS and OS in HCC patients with PVTT and no extrahepatic metastasis. Given the prognostic significance, it is strongly encouraged to use FDG uptake of PVTT in further risk stratification for HCC patients with PVTT.
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of regional lymph node (LN) metastasis detected on preoperative CT and/or 18 F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) scans in the prediction of early tumor recurrence after curative surgical resection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). This retrospective study included 137 patients who underwent upfront surgery with R0 resection of PDAC between 2013 and 2016. Regional LN metastasis was identified using
Cryptococcus spp. other than Cryptococcus neoformans or Cryptococcus gattii were previously considered saprophytes and thought to be non-pathogenic to humans. However, opportunistic infections associated with non-neoformans and non-gattii species, such as Cryptococcus laurentii and Cryptococcus albidus, have increased over the past four decades. We experienced a case of cryptococcosis caused by non-neoformans and non-gattii spp. in a 47-year-old female with refractory acute myeloid leukemia afte
Background: Predictive markers for treatment response and survival outcome have not been identified in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving chemoimmunotherapy. We aimed to evaluate whether imaging biomarkers of 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18 F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and routinely assessed clinico-laboratory values were associated with clinical outcomes in patients with advanced NSCLC receiving pembrolizumab plus platinum-double
PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of metabolic parameters on 18F-FDG PET/CT and tumor dose (TD) on posttreatment 90Y PET/CT in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who underwent 90Y transarterial radioembolization (TARE). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Forty-seven HCC patients treated with 90Y TARE were retrospectively enrolled between January 2013 and October 2018. 18F-FDG PET/CT was performed before treatment. Maximum tumor SUV-to-mean normal liver SUV ratio (TLR), meta
