15The purpose of this study was to correlate the abnormal signal area on various magnetic resonance (MR) images to the infarct area on pathologic examination and to assess the myocardial viability on the basis of MR images. T2-weighted, first-pass perfusion, and delayed gadolinium-enhanced T1-weighted images were used as "one-stop examinations" in a pig model of reperfused myocardial infarction. The results of each MR image were compared with those of 2,3, 5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) sta
MR images enhanced with bis-gadolinium mesoporphyrins provide accurate sizing of irreversibly damaged myocardium with a strong and persistent signal enhancement in the reperfused myocardium.
Abstract Intestinal-type gastric cancer often results from Helicobacter pylori infection through intestinal metaplasia, a transdifferentiated premalignant phenotype. Because H. pylori virulence factor CagA has been associated with aberrant expression of the transcription factor CDX1, which regulates intestinal differentiation, we explored its relationship with H. pylori infection and function during gastric carcinogenesis in normal gastric epithelial cells and gastric cancer cell lines. Infectio
Although an asymptomatic population classified as low risk by the NCEP guideline has been regarded as a minimal risk group, the prevalence of atherosclerosis plaques and significant stenosis were not negligible. However, considering very low event rate for those patients, CCTA should not be performed in low-risk asymptomatic subjects, although CCTA might have the potential for identification of high-risk groups in the selected subjects regarded as a minimal-risk group by NCEP guideline.
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Galectin-9 (Gal-9) is a member of the β-galactoside-binding lectin family. Our previous study revealed that Gal-9 suppresses migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in gastric cancer cells. Gal-9 was reported to have anti-metastatic activity in patients with malignant melanoma, breast cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of Gal-9 in patients with gastric cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The clinical si
AIMS: The incidence and mortality of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have decreased over time in South Korea, where hepatitis B virus (HBV) in endemic. This study investigated the changes in the characteristics and clinical outcomes of HCC patients in Korea. METHODS: Patients initially diagnosed with HCC and treated at the National Cancer Center, Korea between 2000 and 2015 (n = 4,291) were followed up until February 2017. Differences in patient characteristics and outcomes were compared between
Bone marrow involvement was found in 4.3% of the patients with gastric MALT lymphoma. Bone marrow examination may be deferred because marrow involvement does not change the treatment options or outcome in gastric MALT lymphoma confined to the stomach wall.
In this paper, we propose a new pattern recognition method using feature feedback and present its application to face recognition. Conventional pattern recognition methods extract the features employed for classification using PCA, LDA and so on. On the other hand, in the proposed method, the extracted features are analyzed in the original space using feature feedback. Using reverse mapping from the extracted features to the original space, we can identify the important part of the original data
In this paper, we investigate bounds for solutions of the perturbed nonlinear functional differential systems with a -similarity condition using the notion of h-stability.
Abstract. In this paper, we investigate Lipschitz and asymptotic stability for perturbed nonlinear differential systems. 1.
